A fun drive in the country for your street car, with your friend, spouse, or SO (even the entire family if you have enough seat-belts) is waiting for you in May. In addition to driving these country roads, you get to practice simple rally timing, by driving the same route twice in exactly the same number of minutes and seconds. Bring a stop-watch or an app that reads in minutes and seconds.

This is the Tulip Time Rally. Tulip brings images of spring, of course. But "tulip" means something other than a pretty flower to a rallyist: it's a kind of rally instruction. These were first used by the famous Tulip Rally in Holland. We will use this type of route instruction for some of this event, which will be held on Saturday, May 21.

We will be starting and ending at a restaurant at the Stonehill Center in Denton, Texas, at the (northern) intersection of I-35 and Loop 288.

On-site registration opens at 10:00am at the restaurant. The first car will start at 11:31am. Cost is $25 per car (SCCA members get a $5 discount). There will be a mid-rally lunch break at the same restaurant. Preregistration is at http://msreg.us/TTR16msr . Those who preregister will get the event rules via email prior to the rally. There will be a $5 late fee in Denton for those who do not preregister. The event is open to any street-legal vehicle, and there must be two or more people old enough to read aboard. Course following will be easy, with mileages at most instructions.
