Seaside Cruizers Car Club

The Seaside Cruizers Car Club was formed in 1993 by six local car enthusiasts. The founding members were Dave Gray, Steve Palmer, Rick Dickinson, Bob Lins, Lou Vernon and Bill Lineham. The Club was founded on the basis of being a casual low key club for guys that simply wanted to get together, talk about cars and put on a small annual car show. In planning for that show, they decided that the best weekend of the cruising season that was available at the time was the Father’s Day weekend in June. Our first show was held at the Island Hall Hotel in Parksville in 1993, which attracted a total of about 65 cars. For the next two years the shows were held at this location, with entries growing each year and due to the closure of the hotel we were forced to relocate. The following five shows were held at the Rocking Horse Pub in Nanoose Bay. This was a beautiful location on several acres of grass with the Pub, live music and just a great time overall. By this time the club had grown in size to roughly 12 members. Once again we were forced to relocate when we received the news that the Rocking Horse was closing down. In 2001 we moved the venue of the Show ‘n Shine to the Town of Qualicum Beach where we have continued to stage our annual Father’s Day show. This is probably one of the best locations for a car show on the West Coast. The Town is second to none in terms of location, design and atmosphere. Our club now has about 40 members. From a show that started with 65 cars we now welcome 600+ cars along and over 15,000 spectators. Our participants come from all over the Island, Lower Mainland, Alberta, Washington State, Oregon, and California. We now present a varied array of trophies to cars, light trucks and motorcycles. Over time, we began to accumulate surpluses from the event and, being aware of local community needs, we now contribute our surplus event proceeds back to the community. On April 4, 2005, we were incorporated as a non-profit Society under the laws of British Columbia.
