RIVERVIEW CRUISERS

The club was founded in 1989 by a group of 3 guys BJ, Joe, & Mike. The type of club we were interested in forming would be geared more to the hands–on type of person who did most of there own work and wasn’t afraid to drive the vehicle on the street. It was decided that the club would accept members with any type of car or truck and those searching for the vehicle of there dreams. The club name was decided upon by the 3 founding members after some debate over several other names that had been considered. The club’s original logo was redesigned by one of the clubs original members Dave R. and is today the registered trademark of the club. It represents our interest in cars and the neighborhood that we were from. Members as a group would vote on any issues that affected the direction of the club. The club hosted the first car show at Roscoe Fest (now known as Retro on Roscoe) in 1990 and cruise nights at McDonald’s on River Road & Belmont Ave. from 1990–1992 as well as attending numerous shows ourselves (World of Wheels & Chevy Vette Fest at McCormick Place, Super Chevy Shows at Martin MI. & Indianapolis IN., MotorRama at the old Amphitheater) and numerous other local car shows, obtaining numerous awards as a club as well as individual member vehicle awards. The club at this time had a membership of 30, and numerous friends that attended shows with the club.
