Firebird Nation of North America, Inc.

In May of 2003, Tom Smith of Saratoga Springs NY and Keith Fuerst of Watervliet NY dreamed of a Firebird only social gathering. In just 30 days after phone calls, e-mails, flyer handouts and an agreement with the Saratoga Auto Museum, 35 Firebirds and their owners cruised to the SPA State Park to show their cars and participate in the first ever Saratoga lawn show that included just Pontiac Firebirds! In the fall of 2003, Tom and Sandy Smith decided to take it to the next level, make it an annual event, and donate all proceeds to a charitable organization such as Special Olympics Saratoga County! Consequent shows were held in July of 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008. Each year attendance grew. Show participants asked about joining or forming a club. The time seemed right to take the next step! In April of 2006, invitations went out to join a new Firebird club: Firebird Nation of North America. We welcomed all Firebirds, Formulas, Trans Ams, Firehawks, GTA's, SE's, Bandits, Machos, Show Cars, Street Cars, Race Cars, Survivors, Classics, Cruisers, Drivers and works in progress! FNONA is the result of this series of events and the enthusiasm we Firebird owners have for our 1967-2002 Firebirds. Firebird Nation of North America has evolved from a virtual entity to a legal entity incorporated in New York State. Our members spread across NY, NJ, MA, VT, CT, PA and Ontario Canada. We are affiliated with the National Firebird and Trans Am Club, are incorporated in the State of New York, and are an IRS registered 501-c-3 non profit club. We donate all profits to Special Olympics. Our next show is Saturday July 11, 2009. Go to http://clubs.hemmings.com/frameset.cfm?club=firebirdnationofnorthamerica/download.html for 2009 Show Flyer and info. E-mail and club newsletters are used to provide members with notice of club meetings, future gatherings, car show & car club info, results of gatherings & meets, notice of member Birds for sale or members looking for Birds. Beyond these activities, Firebird Nation of North America, Inc. seeks other ways to promote Firebird social gatherings and maintain the enjoyment and heritage of the Pontiac Firebird! Our 2008 6th Annual All Firebird Lawn Show saw 139 Firebirds from ten US states and two Canadian provinces. We welcome new members young and old. We do not condone illegal speed contests, burnouts, or otherwise unsafe activity at club functions. Anyone who demonstrates such activity at club events will be suspended from club activity for one year. A second offense will result in a lifetime ban from club activities and events. Regular Membership to the club requires that you own a Firebird of any year or trim level. Honorary Membership is available to all Firebird enthusiasts and does not require Firebird ownership. There will be at least one show per year with a meeting to be held the night before the show. Only Regular Members will have voting privileges.
