SUNRUNNERS CAR CLUB OF IMPERIAL VALLEY

Sunrunners Car Club was formed in 1984, with sixteen (16) Members, naming the late Richard Alford “Godfather” of Club until New Officers were assigned. We currently have six (6) Officers and sixty-four (64) Members and growing. We continue to meet monthly, every first Thursday of month at Alford's Distributing, El Centro. Dues are still $25.00 per year, due before March 1st. Sunrunners Car Club members represent all types of cars including: Antique, Classic, Hotrods, Special Interest, New Cars, and any other toys of choice. The main focus of the Sunrunners Car Club is the preservation and restoration of old vehicles and anyone just being a car enthusiast. Members enjoy the various events that we participate in through out the year and the camaraderie shared with other clubs for our true passion for cars. The first activity this Club had, was a Car Show and Potluck Dinner with the Over the Hill Antique Car Club of San Diego as our guests and an Imperial Valley tour, February 1984. The late Frank Barros and Jerry Womack were then chairmen and responsible for the event to be held in February 1984, with at least 75 cars expected to participate. This activity then became an "Annual Carne Asada Run". Our annual event now draws over 150 Classic, Custom and Street Rods Vehicles throughout Southern California, Arizona, Nevada and Colorado, with over 1200 spectators coming to view our spectacular Vehicles, which we show with pride. We make it a full day of fun for the entire family, which include our Show and Shine, Carne Asada Feast, Raffles, Music and Prizes for everyone. We will be celebrating our 25th Annual Carne Asada Run / Car Show, on March 20th and 21st, 2009, which we hope to be even better and bigger than before.
