Centralia-Chehalis Vintage Auto Club

Centralia Chehalis Vintage Auto Club began life as the Southwest Washington Horseless Carriage Club in October of 1962. A group of people from the Centralia-Chehalis/Lewis County area, sharing the love and interest in the antique autos, their preservation as they were originally produced and their place in history, gathered together to form a local area group. From its’ inception C.C.V.A.C. was organized as a family oriented club with men and women members of equal status, at a time when most of the similarly interested groups were for men only. And women, if they were allowed to attend at all, were excused to another area while the business meetings of the clubs were being conducted. They participated only in a subordinate, supporting role. All major events of the C.C.V.A.C. were planned as family oriented and have remained so throughout its’ lifetime. The club has continued to grow very successfully as a family oriented group based on the love of the vintage automobile, with many of the members and family groups dating back to its’ original organization. One family has supplied three presidents from three different generations. Centralia-Chehalis Vintage Auto Club continues to serve as a gathering place for social, educational, and recreational purposes for all who appreciate the vintage automobile’s place in Americana and history.
