To hold its character, this 1960 Ford F-100 Patina AWD Restomod still has its original paint, and once you realize the rust is safe and preserved on purpose, this truck becomes interesting instead of junkyard worthy. It sits on an all-wheel-drive late-90s Explorer chassis, giving it a nice stance and a lot of stability. It hosts a strong V8 engine and transmission, along with an independent front suspension, making this truck, which may look like it has seen better days, actually ready for some real-time cruising fun.
The interior is very nice and doesn\'t quite match the rugged look of the exterior, but it still keeps some of its old-school personality. There are two Charcoal Gray cloth bucket seats along with a center console. The door panels, dashboard, and roof are all painted in Turquoise and holding up very well. A custom steering wheel is attached to a tilt steering column, while the old-school dashboard houses aftermarket AutoMeter gauges. An Alpine head unit fits nicely in the center of the dash, offering AM/FM/CD capabilities. The carpet is in clean shape, protected by a set of heavy-duty floor mats, and out back, the wooden bed is about as old school classic as it gets.
Under the hood, everything looks well put together. An aluminum radiator helps keep the engine of this truck at the proper temperature. The stock 5.0-liter with fuel injection gives it plenty of pep. Power is sent through a 4-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive transfer case with a Ford 8.8-inch rear axle. The front suspension features torsion bars, shocks, and a rack-and-pinion steering setup, while the rear uses leaf springs with shocks. For all its old-school looks, it drives remarkably well.
This Ford sits on 16-inch painted black wheels with Ford center caps, wrapped in 255/60R16 tires. Four-wheel power disc brakes bring this steel-bodied truck to a confident stop. For sound, stock-style 5.0-liter exhaust manifolds feed into dual exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers, delivering a nice truck rumble.
