What a cool little shop truck! I have had a blast building this thing and driving it. A little bit about the build...

It''s a 1973 Ford F-100, SWB, 2wd. It has the Crown Vic front end conversion, rear triangulated four-link suspension with air bags, and a Ford 8.8 rearend with 3.73s and Traclock. Four wheel disk brakes fed by a hydroboost master cylinder setup, 5-lug 18" wheels with new rubber. Air system consists of a single compressor, tank, and electronic dump and fill valves. The system has a dual throw switch for up and down, dual needle gauge for reading tank pressure and bag pressure, and an override switch for the compressor (has keyed 12v).

The power comes via a 5.9L 12-Valve Cummins diesel. A 46RH auto transmission backs up the engine. The combo was pulled from a running, driving truck with 145,000 on the clock and had been recently cleaned and resealed. The powertrain was left mostly stock, with minor tweaks to the injection pump, a deeper pan on the transmission, and an aux tranny cooler with electric fan.

Inside, I replaced the drivers floor pan, added sound/heat insulation, and went with some simple indoor/outdoor carpet (nothing fancy). I used the steering column and dash cluster from the donor dodge truck and made a custom mounting plate. Everything works.

There IS rust... I left it, didn''t bother me as I was going for the RAT look and was mainly concerned on drivability and performance. The exterior rubber needs replaced, especially the doors/windows. Other than that, this thing is a blast to drive! I daily drive it, and have taken in on 300+ mile trips with no problems. It cruises at 70mph on the freeway with ease. It''s a little loud with the side pipe, but hey, what fun is a quiet ride?
