DESCRIPTION

I am selling my 1973 GMC Sierra Grande (C1500) pickup truck with Big Block 454 ci and working AC. The original owner was my neighbor who sold it to me when health issues in his family required him to move. It was his back and forth to work vehicle and used around his suburban home. I have owned this solid truck for about 4 1/2 years.

In 1973 GMC introduced a new truck body style. The Square-bodied or Rounded-line design featured sculptured sides and squared off wheel openings, more glass area with embedded antenna and a roomier cab than previous models and introduced flow thru ventilation. The frame of the truck was completely redesigned and strengthened with increased siderail thickness new crossmember design. Other improvements included 2-stage leaf spring rear suspensions and a front stabilizer bar. And for the first time GMC offered a 454ci in its 2 WD pick-ups.

This is an original truck with few modifications. It floats smoothly along the road when driven. It has NOT been restored, but HAS been decently maintained over the past 45 years. Please see truck highlights and features , as follows:

*Safety- Passed Virginia annual inspection November 2017
*Odometer 137175
*454 ci (240hp) BIG BLOCK. Professionally rebuilt about 300 miles ago. Rebuild included boring of block .30, pistons, rings, camshaft, crankshaft turned .10, heads redone, new valve seals, etc., double roller timing chain and gears, new RV cam / bearings, oil pump, rods reconditioned, new water pump, radiator, alternator and starter were rebuilt, new thermostat and sparkplugs.
Motor mounts replaced
*Holley 4bbl carb - rebuilt ( likely not original to truck)
*AC - Working. Original R12 refrigerent upgraded to R134
*Rust - Most all of these old trucks have experienced rust and this truck is no exception. Records indicate that in 2006 various rusted areas were re -metaled / repaired and repainted to match OEM finish. . I have run a magnet over most all painted surfaces with 100% attachment results. One lower driversside seam has small area visible surface rust. Two wheel well surrounds have silver dollar size holes. The undercarriage has surface rust typical of a 45 year old truck.
*Battery- new Autocraft
*Brakes- L & R wheel cylinders , pads replaced
*Tires- Less than 300 miles on new Cooper Trendsetter SE radials, original size 235/75/15 whitewalls
*Wheels- Original - owner cleaned and painted. 4 hubcaps convey ( 3 GMC and 1 Chevy bowtie)
*All lights working ( headlights, back-up, blinkers, hazard) Dome light intermittant.
*Radio- Has the original DELCO AM/ FM radio. WORKS! The antenna is embedded in the windshield.
*Clock - NOT working
*Cigar lighter- Works
*Wipers & fluid- new blades and working
*Horns - Work (not original)
*Interior- clean but shows some age. Seat has two small upholstery tears; carpet clean but shows wear; both interior doors have paint off in areas where rubbed against seat belt retractors; instrument surround has typical cracking around screwmount holes; various other minor wear, etc.
*New 2 tow ball. ( NOTE: truck does NOT have any form of tow-light harness )
*Duraliner bedliner - Very Good condition ( no observed cracks )
*Pro Tecta Tool Box- Very Good condition ( locks need re-keyed / replaced)

Sale comes with Original owners manual; Original Emission Control Systems Information and Warrenty brochure; Holley carb install / adjustment instructions; copy of GM as- built spec codes for this particular truck ( order # C51219 Baltitimore Plant, Baltimore MD.); reproduction 73 Chevy Pick-up brochure; new GMC Truck logo baseball-style cap. I am also throwing in a used heavy duty battery charging cable and ..get this... a period US Cellular bag phone (analog) ! that was on the front seat when I took ownership.

This is both a driveable truck and an appreciating highly collectable vehicle. I have not observed many up for sale. In 2013 NADA Classic Vehicle Guides valued the 73 GMC C1500 with 454ci and AC at:
Low Retail $5,602 , Average Retail $11,754 and High Retail $17,482.

Todays values:
Low Retail $9,180, Average Retail $19,980 and High Retail $30,105.

NADA defines Average Retail as This vehicle would be in good condition overall. It could be an older restoration or a well-maintained original vehicle. Completely operable. The exterior paint, trim, and mechanics are presentable and serviceable inside and out. A 20 footer. I consider my truck to be in the Average range and am pricing competitively in an area between Low and Average.

Please feel free to contact me with questions of additional photos you would like to see. Thanks for stopping by.
