The sight of a first generation Camaro dressed in a thoroughly refreshed rendition of its original color combo and harboring a super vital engine to anchor a rock solid drivetrain is always enough to brighten your mood and that's just what this 1968 Chevrolet Camaro has to offer. This is an outstanding example of the coveted muscle car model in its original design and it offers a stellar driving experience to go along with its considerable curb appeal.
Plenty of skilled workmanship went into bringing the Rally Green exterior on this classic back to top form and it shows. The paint has just the right amount of metallic flake blended into the mix to really make it come alive in the sunlight, where its already deep shine becomes even more appealing, and the broad black accents running over the cowl hood and deck lid are no mere decals - they're painted on and sit under a nice, deep clearcoat themselves to create an outstanding uniform texture from front to back. The attention to detail on display here is obvious - plenty of prep work goes into achieving a superior result like this before the trigger on the paint gun is pulled for the first time and the underlying steel is very solid. The entire collection of chrome on board this Chevy is looking great as well, with level, unblemished bumpers at both ends, clean rocker panel trim and badging that appears as good as it did when the car first rumbled off the assembly line.
Take a peek inside inside and you'll notice that things are pretty darned clean inside the doors, starting with the black vinyl buckets and rear bench seat at the center which, like the components they're surrounded by, have been brought to top condition while retaining a thoroughly factory appearance. The expanse of black carpet just below, as well as the headliner above, seems as if it was recently installed. Climb into the driver's seat, take a hold of the woodgrain steering wheel with one hand and the shifter in the other and there's no doubt you'll feel a strong urge to get out on the asphalt and put this classic through its paces. As you do, you'll have a full complement of original gauges on board inside the instrument panel to keep tabs on vital motoring functions - only the fuel gauge will require attention to get back up to speed and that's generally a minor undertaking. Just in front of the shifter sits one of the most coveted Camaro interior features during this era - a factory center console gauge pod.
All the eager power to provide the promise of plenty of fun times on the road comes in the form of the 327 cubic inch V8 beneath the hood. Wearing a pair of chrome valve covers, as well as a chrome air cleaner, the engine is fed by a Holley 4-barrel carb perched on an Edlebrock Performer intake to maximize its abilities, while added long tube headers leading to dual Flowmaster mufflers ensure that it exhales with efficiency. An HEI ignition and an Accel coil are now in place to ensure maximum available spark as the 327 teams with a Muncie 4 speed M21 transmission to provide a fitting "hands on" driving experience. Smooth power steering makes this Camaro easy to navigate as it cruises on its set of 15" Rally wheels with spinner center caps that are wrapped with BF Goodrich T/A Radials.
With its impressive level of refreshed authenticity and abundant power, this 1968 Chevrolet Camaro represents a very enticing opportunity. Call today!
