GM 454HO 425HP Crate Engine.
4-speed manual transmission.
This 1968 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible 454 Custom is both a beautiful looker and driver. It was completely restored from top to bottom. It was completed in 2018 and has been driven 2,494 miles since completion. As the VIN number indicates this car was built in St. Louis, MO as a 1968 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible. As the trim tag indicates it originally had a green exterior and black interior. This is one of only 18,630 built in 1968.
The exterior body is straight with nice gap lines throughout. Its equipped with an L-88 style hood which looks killer. During the restoration the decision was made to change the original color to Blue. This is a beautiful color blue and fits this car perfectly. The paint job is really nice but so nice youd be afraid to drive it. This car was restored to drive and enjoy. The blue paint is complemented with a new white convertible top. The blue and white color combination is sweet. The front fender vents were painted sliver. MS CLASSIC CARS had the front windshield replaced and all the trim polished. Everything on the exterior was restored or replaced with exception of the drivers side mirror. Some of these items included the lower chrome molding, front bumper, rear bumpers, lights, lenses and antenna. It sits on new 15 Rally wheels with chrome rings. The wheels are wrapped with new Copper Cobra Radial GT 235-60-15 tires. This car attracts a lot of attention!
The black interior is in very nice condition throughout. It has been restored but still retains a lot of originality. Some of the original interior pieces include the dash pad, dash face, dash hardware, most gauges, vents, rear view mirror, door panels, door hardware and center console. Some of these original interior pieces have been repainted or repaired. The seats were reupholstered and look great. They also feel great. Modern seat belts were added as well. Some other new pieces include the steering wheel, kick panels, carpet and floor mats. Its equipped with a Pioneer stereo unit with CD player and Boston Acoustics 6x9 rear speakers. The interior of this car is really comfortable!
The engine compartment is nicely detailed throughout. The entire engine compartment was painted black. The car is powered by a GM 454HO 454HP crate engine (part #12568774). This is a very reliable engine that runs excellent. All of engine specifications are included. The engine was painted orange and dressed to look like the engine did in 1968. It even sports the original style air cleaner. Its equipped with an MSD ignition system and chrome alternator. This engine sounds excellent out the custom stainless dual exhaust system with chrome tips. The engine is coupled to a factory 4-speed manual transmission that shifts very nicely through the gears. Just think about 425HP!
The undercarriage is nicely detailed throughout. The entire undercarriage was painted black. Its very presentable and clean. Everything underneath was restored or replaced such as the all the steering, suspension and braking components. This undercarriage is actually clean enough for mirrors if desired at a car show.
