1956 Mercury Montclair Convertible. This Big M has been a Florida car its whole life and has only had 2 owners over all of that time. It is finished in eye catching Spring Valley green and Pinewood Green two tone paint with a white convertible soft top. That is accented by an original Lauderdale Blue interior to complete the classic 50s look. The Montclair is still powered by its original 312CI V8 engine mated to the correct Merc-O-Matic automatic transmission. The total Mercury production for 1956 stood at 327,943 vehicles, 91,434 were Montclair models of which only 7,762 were convertibles. Because the sleek, aerodynamic shapes were a favorite of hot rodders and customizers of the era it is exceedingly difficult to find one of these cars in restorable condition. This is especially true of convertible examples that suffered low survivability rates because they were more vulnerable to the ravages of the elements, making them even more prized by collectors. Our Montclair is a nice solid driver quality car with great chrome and brightwork. It is an extremely well equipped vehicle especially for this era, and features power steering, power brakes, power windows, power seat, power top, Road Lamps fog/driving lights, Multi-Luber pushbutton suspension lubricating system, dual exhaust, steel wheels with correct factory wheel covers wrapped in wide whitewall tires. This survivor even comes with the original owners manual, shop maintenance manual, sales brochure, and paint chip color chart.
