DESCRIPTION
his 1941 Plymouth P12 Special DeLuxe Convertible comes from the last full year of prewar automobile production and is powered by a 201ci L-head straight-six. The car features a 117 wheelbase, making it more spacious than its competitors from Ford and Chevrolet. The seller acquired this example two and a half years ago, and a new top and top frame have since been installed. Mechanical servicing performed during that period included a new brake master cylinder, rebuilding the wheel cylinders, a brake adjustment, valve adjustment, new fuel pump, new ignition parts, and more as detailed below. This Plymouth is located in West LA, California and carries a clean Ohio title in the seller''s name. The interior is trimmed in burgundy vinyl with a split bench up front and a conventional bench in the rear. Instruments are said to work apart from the fuel gauge, which does not register accurately. The radio is in working order and is said to be the factory item. 27k miles are shown, though the true total is unknown. The 201ci L-head straight-six is backed by a column-shifted 3-speed manual gearbox. Detailed technical specifications and information on year-to-year changes can be found in the factory service manual. Prior service history is unknown, though during the seller''s ownership the car has received regular maintenance, tune-ups, and oil changes. Work over the last two and a half years included the following:
Installed new points and condenser in the distributor
Rebuilt carburetor
Tuned engine and adjusted valves
Installed a new 6V battery, replaced old 12V cables with 6V units
Removed and replaced oil pan gasket
Removed and replaced pinion seals
Replaced fuel pump
Corrected oil leaks
