DESCRIPTION

1969 Chevrolet Malibu Chevelle

For consignment, a Chevrolet Malibu from 1969. This full on custom street/strip car was built to do one thing and do it well...Go FAST!!! Built with a high degree of detail and sporting the original frame along with some custom aluminum flooring for the interior and trunk we are ready to line \'em up and wait for the bulbs to drop on the Christmas tree. While the overall original appearance has been retained, but now sporting more of a drag car look with huge rear tires and a monster big block mill to help push this car quickly down the quarter mile even with the factory\'s less than ideal aerodynamics, this Chevy is one to kick ass and take names.

Exterior
A side view has this car setup for a permanent lunging forward look thanks to the perfectly neutral stance of the suspension. To add to the effect, it is bathed in a nicely applied black paint. Most of the side trimmings have been left off, and the only chrome still seen is the door handles, rear view mirror, and brightwork around the passenger\'s compartment Lexan replacementwindows and rear bumper. Up front, dual headlights frame a black egg crate grille with integral trim spear and lead back to a pair of fiberglass fenders and a fiberglass Dzus pinned on hood with a black fiberglass bumper mounted below. A nicely curving rear Lexan window melts seamlessly into the steel trunk lid and moves to the back of the car where angled inward tail lighting is seen on each corner. 15-inch Weld Racing ProStar wheels are wrapped in 25x4.50-15\'s in front, and steamroller-esque 29.50x10.50-15s on back for handling all that horsepower.

Interior
Nicely straight black vinyl covered door panels are on the inside of the 2 doors, along with the factory door actuators and a window crank and armrest delete. Moving inside, very little is left of the original interior, the rear seat has been removed in the name of weight savings and now showing with lightly polished aluminum for the rear firewall and flooring. Factory black vinyl, perfectly matching the door panels, is on for the rear inner side panels. A glossyblack menagerie of roll cage tube encompasses the interior keeping both the driver and front seat passenger safe. Dual racing bucket seats with black vinyl covering flank the fabricated aluminum transmission tunnel with the Hurst shifter and fire extinguisher mounted well within reach of the driver. The original dash has been retained and shows with a cracked black padded topper and has been fitted with more fabricated sheet aluminum in front of the driver. Within this custom dash is a duo of AutoMeter gauges along with a large tachometer to the top left. A snazzy 3 spoke wheel fronts thisdash and to the driver\'s far left is the adjuster for the brake proportioning valve. Dash central holds more custom panels with few toggles and a large fuse. Up high on the front crossbar of the roll cage is a master panel with another bevy of switches and the ignition push button. Shiny bead rolled aluminum on the floor provides the backdrop for this full on custom interior.

Drivetrain
As we lift off the hood we can unequivocally say \"Toto we are not in Kansas Anymore!\". Here we see a large consigner stated 496 ci V8 stuffed into the engine bay. Very little is known about the internals of the engine but we can see a 4-barrel carburetor atop an aluminum intake manifold feeding copious amounts of fuel and air to the mill. Bolted to the back is a Powerglide 2-speed automatic transmission with a TCI SFI trans shield and a SFI TCI flexplate which sends power rearward to a 12 bolt axle with a spool. The engine is a very nice presentation with a concerto of cast aluminum, polished aluminum valve coverings, and it\'s making use of some braided stainless-steel hoses, and high output cleanly run wiring. Lookin\' good under this hood.

Undercarriage
A peppering of surface rust covers the original frame and what is left of the original flooring of the undercarriage. The floor pans are all aluminum bead rolled sheets and are looking nearly as good as the top side of themselves. Disc brakes are up front as well as the factory Malibu independent coil spring suspension and in the back we note the factory 4 link and coil spring arrangement, now with added traction bars. Headers snake their way down to meet up side exit dual exhaust that has been fitted with bullet style race mufflers.

Drive-Ability
While I wanted to wheel this skate, the tight confines with the roll cage and my ample frame made it nearly impossible for me to enter and there was a good chance that Crisco and the local fire department would have to be involved with my exit, so I let my muscle car aficionado and partner in crime take the wheel. A quick fire up, and on the test track it performed just swimmingly. Huge horsepower, lightning fast acceleration and adequate stopping let you know that this car, while street legal, is def
