1950 Mercury Meteor

Not quite sure you\'ve even seen this car before? Well, there\'s a good reason. This isn\'t as much a Mercury Meteor as it is a Meteor sold through Mercury dealerships. Much like GM\'s pre-war sub-brands where Cadillac had Lasalle and Oakland had Pontiac, Canadian Mercury dealers had Meteors to sell. So when you are looking at a short-lived sub-brand made exclusively for Canada, you can start to understand the level of rarity here. The full story on a car like this is that it shares much of the styling with the Ford Tudor to give Mercury a bit more of a mainstream offering because often at this time there would be a Mercury dealer in town but not a Ford one. Still, the Meteor kept the more unique and premium Mercury style in key places like the front bumper and grille. This car has the right vintage look with the maroon main color, white roof, full-length trim, and chrome bumpers all looking complete with just the right amount of maturity. But you\'ll also notice a light metallic in the maroon. It\'s part of the right hot rod feeling in this car. After all, the \'50 Ford loves some street machine style, and so this one gets the right period-correct updates, too. The half-chrome headlights, windshield sunshade, dual spotlights, blue-dot tail lights, and dual exhaust tips are classic Ford V8 fun.
