DESCRIPTION
1984 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 Coupe
For consignment, a 1984 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 with a title verified 70,565 actual miles. Maybe you pined for a Z28 back in high school, then settled down, had some kids, a job, and daily routine. Well, now\'s your chance to get the car of your dreams and the build you never got to, one making 423 horsepower! There are a lot of new parts and components here.
Due to modifications of the emissions control devices installed by the manufacturer, please check your local, state, and federal laws to determine if this vehicle is applicable for use on public highways in your area.*
Exterior
From the first second you lay eyes on this one, you know it\'s different. First, the two stage Charcoal Pearl paint is unique, not so much in color, but by its lack of decals that once encircled the car. There\'s a Goodmark cowl hood and some black wheels that hint at the nature of the car; we call these \"clues\". Those wheels are wrapped in 245/50R16 with drag radials on the back sporting an early 2024 date code. The monochromatic coverage is briefly interrupted by Z28 call outs on the side rocker cladding and rear bumper cover while angle cut exhaust tips, also in black, provide more clues. What all Camaros share is the F-body\'s long hood and sloping, curving rear glass and this one includes T-tops. In a scenario we find incredibly rare, we could not find any glaring external imperfections.
Interior
Geometrical patterns were a big deal in the 80\'s and our interior is replete with a diagonal line design that begins on the newer door panels presenting in solid black and newer upholstery and both left and right presently cleanly. The seats borrow that design and apply it to the inserts which are mirrored on the 2+2\'s in back, and all four seats are in great condition slightly contrasted by the charcoal carpeting and gray sidewalls. A Grant GT steering wheel fronts a simple instrument cluster behind a black textured plastic faceplate while an updated AM/FM/CD radio and vent lever panel occupy the center stack. Fairly no frills here, but this is how we rolled, and this interior provides no further clues. Our center console is, the shifter is clean and the tidy cargo area is ready to accept the T-tops!
Drivetrain
Here\'s where things go off the rails, in a good way! Under the hood is a Jensen Engine Technologies 350ci V8 with an XR288HR Comp cam, World Products Sportsman II heads, Magnum rocker arms, a Holley 701cfm 4-barrel carburetor by Avanti Performance, MSD ignition, a new water pump, radiator, and heater core. This is good for a dyno proven 423 horsepower which is routed through 700R4 4-speed automatic rebuilt by Steve\'s Transmissions and including a new shift kit and torque converter. Power ponies are sent spinning back to the 10 bolt rear axle with an Eaton Locker and Moser Street axles. Oh, and headers are on board!
Undercarriage
Painted clean and black, the underside features new OEM power disc brakes at all four wheels with fresh calipers, hoses, master cylinder, and e-brake cable. The headers meet at a Y to create a single pipe that finds a stock style muffler which emits two big tail pipes. There is no catalytic converter present. Suspension includes coil springs at both ends, Energy Suspension bushings, new KYB shocks, and Hotchkiss rear trailing arms.
Drive-Ability
This is not our high school Z28! And there\'s no way we could have afforded a build like this in the days when we were just trying to get through Algebra I. The clean Camaro provides a healthy rumble from the exhaust and plenty of power from the engine. Suspension is tight and so is the steering thanks to a rebuilt system including Moog components. We don\'t find much fault with this one other than no A/C and the heater blower high speed does not function. Beyond that, everything works. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.
You don\'t have to be Columbo to realize this is not your average Z28, especially after seeing and hearing this one. Sure, you could pick up a cheap \'84 Z28 and try to replicate this build. But as they say, \"you could not build it for this price\" and it\'s never been more true! Buy it today, drive it tomorrow.
