DESCRIPTION
1985 BMW 528e (E28) Location: Delaware Stock #: CBL02193 Mileage: 103,869 miles This beautiful E28 has been in the care of its current owner\'s late husband since 1986 and was clearly a cherished automobile throughout its life. The car has always been garage-kept and serviced by experienced German car specialists. Exterior The body and paint present exceptionally well, with what appears to be original paint throughout. The finish retains a strong shine, showing only a few minor stone chips upon close inspection. The undercarriage, floors, firewall, wheel wells, and rocker panels are reported to be solid and rust-free. Panel gaps are excellent, and the doors, hood, and trunk open and close properly. Exterior brightwork remains attractive, although some trim pieces show normal age-related wear. All lights, turn signals, wipers, and horn function as intended. Interior The interior is remarkably clean and well-preserved, showing no signs of abuse, neglect, or smoke exposure. Carpeting, headliner, door panels, and upholstery are all in very good condition. The dashboard does have age-related cracking. Gauges and HVAC controls operate properly. An aftermarket radio is installed, although current operation is unknown. The driver\'s seat backrest is broken and may require repair. Power windows function correctly, with the exception of the right rear window, which must be operated from its individual door switch. Mechanical Power comes from BMW\'s reliable inline-six engine, which starts easily and settles into a smooth idle with no unusual noises or odors. The automatic transmission engages properly and shifts smoothly through all gears. While service records are unavailable, the seller located a sticker indicating a camshaft and timing belt replacement was performed. The owner also recalls that the water pump has been replaced. Wheels & Tires The factory wheels show some age and would benefit from refinishing. Tires have good remaining tread but are older and should be inspected or replaced depending on their age. Overall With just 103,869 miles, this E28 is an exceptionally well-preserved survivor. The combination of solid bodywork, attractive original appearance, smooth drivetrain operation, and long-term ownership makes this classic BMW a highly desirable example. According to the seller, it runs, drives, shifts, brakes, and tracks every bit as well as it looks.
