1987 Wrangler / 1983 CJ - Custom Build. It's not just pretty, it's made to use. Title in hand.

This jeep looks like a CJ, all the capability without the CJ issues. An absolute beast off road - while being amazingly manageable on the road. Drive some lifted jeeps on 35s that handle like a bucket of crabs, then drive this one. Tight steering, awesome brakes, sweet shifting, no wandering, no vibrating, no death wobble, better than original. Drop the tire pressure and release the sway bar connecters - and it transforms into an off-road monster. Air yourself back up at the end of your day with the onboard compressor - and head back to the highway. Yes... it has been offloaded, repaired and upgraded for over 30 years... often getting a few years of TLC and improvements between trips to the off-road park.

If you are already bored... quit reading and come take it for a test drive! If you are looking for an ice cream fetcher, home depot hauler, off roader, or cheap convertible - it's what you want.

Frame and Tub: 1987 Wrangler. Excellent galvanized frame with no significant rust. Tub is solid with no significant rust. Lined with bedliner. No dents. Good luck finding better!

Body and interior: front clip and Dashboard - 1983 CJ. A few branch scratches and lots of tiny imperfections - no dents or deep scratches. Full (rare) metal doors. The driver door has a small crack on the inside by the window which I think is common, and some bubbling rust near the window. Steel security center console. New seals on the doors and latches and inside window roller parts rebuilt and regreased recently. The steel bumpers are periodically sanded free of surface rust and touched up with rattle can black spray paint - but not in a couple of years - so you can see how little rust there is from the pictures. The fiberglass top is coated with bedliner - practically indestructible. It works great for hauling plywood on top of the jeep and deflects tree branches like nothing. The interior is fully lined with bedliner, so hauling rocks and gravel is nothing to worry about. Pull the drain plugs and spray it out - easy. High end sturdy Xenon fender flares.

Family style roll bar with padding to protect all occupants and four proper seat belts.

Engine: Rebuilt Cherokee 4.0 6 cyl h.o. with EZ Efi electronic fuel injection (easy digital tuning to your preferences), DUI S.P.A.R.K. high voltage distributor, unknown mileage. Runs for hours on the highway (top speed about 70 mph due to very poor aerodynamics), off road all day, and cruise back home with no problems. Good low end torque for climbing rocky hills under control. Recently flushed radiator, new alternator, air filter, heating core, plugs, serpentine belt, oil change - no deferred maintenance.

Brakes: discs all the way around... massive wilwood custom brakes up front, rear teraflex drum to disk conversion, brake booster conversion.

Suspension: SOA with reverse eye rubicon springs, newer shocks, anti wrap bar, 6 inch lift (SOA plus perches plus body lift) with newer 35 inch BFG KOA2s, greaseable bushings practically everywhere, dana 44 rear axle, high pinion 35 with solid chromoly axles in front.

Steering: bullet-proof (tm) upgraded crossover steering - no slop on the highway, no bump steer, no tie rod ends to bust loose, no death wobble, no wandering, the ultimate solution for a six inch lift.

Transmission: 5 speed manual (AX15 and NP231) with new clutch and internal to external slave conversion completed in 2021 - much more reliable and easier to service than the original. This is the most desire-able transmission and transfer case setup. Slip Yolk eliminator with new seals and no leaks. Custom axles and drive shafts and all drive angles adjusted to handle the lift with no vibrations, stressed CV joints, or other common lift goof ups.

Aussie / lunch box lockers claw up the hills (but... do go easy on the tight turns on pavement), on board air compressor, deep water breather tubes properly installed, CB antenna with CB radio, custom boxes with 2 subs and 2 6x9 speakers, and new dash speakers, marine grade amplifier, rock rails coated with bed liner to match the interior and fiberglass top.

Electronics: rewired with painless wiring kit and numerous strategic relays to avoid annoying grounding issues - easy to work with.

Wipers, heater, fans, window washers, lights, flashers - everything works. Water comes in around the right windshield with heavy rains, so get this fixed or don't leave it outside.

Steel bumpers front and back with upgraded tire carrier and 2 inch hitch receiver, and dinosaur bumper on the front.
