DESCRIPTION

1925 Chevrolet K Series 2 Door Sedan

The Chevrolet Superior was a series of early cars introduced for the 1923 model year. The Superior was offered in a wide range of body styles, including roadster, sedan, truck, and tourer. Each year\'s variant was designated by a letter, such as the 1924 Superior \'F\'. As well as completed models, the Superior was also sold as a bare chassis. Regardless of the configuration, all Superior variants were fitted with a 2.8L inline four engine. Production of the Chevrolet Superior ended in 1926, and the model was replaced by the Chevrolet Series AA Capitol. Thx to Classic.com

For consignment, a survivor in unrestored condition but looking remarkably well for a 99 year old. More than 400,000 Chevrolets were built in 1925 and to find one that is in presentable and restorable condition is rare indeed.

Exterior
Dark blue paint is enhanced by a red pinstripe that encircles the entire shoulder line of the car. Black fenders flank wide running boards and dome housed headlights are mounted on the fronts. Other than a missing radiator cap, all external pieces are in place on this car including a visor. 21-inch wooden spoked wheels support the car and represent a vestigial feature of horse drawn carriages. The paint is checked and scratched fairly substantially when viewed up close but no major areas of rust are noted.

Interior
Simple gray tweed door panels greet occupants as they enter. The same material is found on the simple bucket front seats as well as the rear bench and side walls and headliner, all in excellent condition. A beautiful four spoke wood steering wheel greets the driver who has just a few gauges in the center of the black painted metal dash. A long floor mounted shifter is flanked by a polished handbrake and bare metal pedals are surrounded by the gray carpet mat that covers the floor.

Drivetrain
A 171ci inline four is behind the engine covers and looks clean and tidy and looking original. It is fed by a side mounted 1-barrel carburetor and is attached to a 3-speed manual transmission sending 26 horses to the rear wheels via 3.82 gears. Mechanical drum brakes are found on the rear axle only.

Undercarriage
Fantastically clean underneath with minor occurrences of surface rust but overall, in excellent condition. We note some fluid on the transmission bottom and oil pan but really, for a 99 year old, no complaints. These cars utilized leaf springs front and rear, another holdover from carriages. The single exhaust flows straight into a muffler then dumps underneath the car.

This is a fine antique find that only needs a bit of TLC to bring it up to show quality. Wouldn\'t it be fantastic if every Chevy dealership in the country had one of these in the showroom to demonstrate the company\'s early roots and innovation? It\'s a living example of what\'s changed in 100 years, and what things have stayed virtually the same.
