DESCRIPTION

The 1968 Dodge Dart occupies a special place in Mopar history. This was the year Dodge turned its compact A-body into a genuine street fighter, introducing the big-block 383-powered GTS and unleashing the legendary Hemi Dart Super Stock racers. A factory 440 Dart would not arrive until 1969, making this GT\'s 440 conversion a distinctive take on Dodge\'s lightweight muscle-car formula. Historical references, 1968 Dart specifications

Lift the hood and the reason for all the excitement becomes obvious. A 440-cubic-inch big-block V8 fills the engine bay, topped by an Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, Holley carburetor, Mopar Performance air cleaner, and matching valve covers. Shorty headers feed a stainless-steel dual exhaust system, giving this compact Dodge the deep, hard-edged soundtrack every big-block Mopar deserves. An aluminum radiator with dual electric fans helps keep the combination cool.

Power is delivered through a stout 727 TorqueFlite automatic operated by a column shifter. Power steering makes this bruiser easier to maneuver, while manual Wilwood four-wheel disc brakes provide serious stopping hardware. Aftermarket air conditioning adds welcome comfort when cruising weather turns hot.

Blue driver-quality paint gives the coupe an honest, road-ready personality, while the white vinyl bucket-seat interior with blue accents delivers classic late-1960s contrast. There is no center console to clutter the cabin, just a clean bench-to-buckets-era layout with plenty of vintage Mopar character.

This Dart GT combines the lean proportions of Dodge\'s compact A-body with the torque, sound, and presence of a 440. It is not a museum piece meant to sit quietly under fluorescent lights. It is a properly equipped street machine built to be driven, heard, and enjoyed.
