DESCRIPTION

2014 Chevrolet Camaro 1SS Z28 Coupe

A 2014 version of the Camaro graces our halls of Classic Auto Mall. This one announces on its badging that it bears the iconic Z/28 designation which means that in stock form it was capable of putting out 505hp. It uses a 1SS trim package which offers less options than higher cars, but it puts out the horsepower to make most Mustang enthusiasts quake in their boots.

Exterior
With a paltry 18,382 original title verified miles, this beauty is bathed in Red Hot and shines like just picked pepper. Adding more bling is the louvered heat extractor hood, body matching fender flares, black rocker skirts, rear tinted glass and the black low profile rear spoiler. This car looks great from the front with its bad boy snarling pointy front grille design to the deep inset single horizontal headlights, integrated bumper, chin splitter, and don\'t forget the chrome highlighted black bowtie leading the way. Steel panels are all nice and straight and mind their gaps very well with Z/28 badging on each of the front fenders. Looking at the profile, the aero design continues with the swept back windshield, raked rear glass and on the back roll pan shades of a diffuser with inset quad exhaust. Oversized blacked out snowflake 19-inch wheels wrapped by low profile rubber. This is a racer ready to smoke any challenges that may get in its way. Drop the hanky and look in the rear view mirror for the competition.

Interior
A swing of the doors and I feel like I\'m viewing the 2014 version of the Milano from Guardians of the Galaxy, with even the door panels giving me the aero design feel carrying all integrated and smooth lines here. Turning our attention to the passenger compartment, we can slip in dual sporty Recaro racing designed buckets, with smooth black leather body hugging bolsters and charcoal suede inserts all highlighted by white stitching. No fooling around here as the seats just grab me as I buckle up, get acclimated and get ready to roll. The futuristic Buck Rogers in the 21st century look continues with the dash, in particular the instrument cluster which plays on the deep set dual gauge cluster of early days of the Camaro, but takes it a step up by wrapping them with rectangular bezels and a center digital odometer and info display. Seen also is a premium AM/FM/CD audio system with Bluetooth connectivity. In the center a nicely designed console drops down from the dash, and houses a small storage cubby, sport and touring toggles, a suede wrapped shifter and glovebox. As it makes its way past the buckets, it ends abruptly at the 2 plus 2 leather covered rear seats. Just smashing which I\'ll be doing to the accelerator in a moment.

Drivetrain
Lifting open the hood we are met with a 7.0 liter LS7 V8 that has been tended to very nicely in its low mileage form. It is fed by EFI and there is a Tremec TR6060 6-speed manual tranny transferring power to a 3.91 limited slip rear axle. The exhale is through snarling headers and the quad tipped exhaust. All surfaces are clean enough to eat off of so...WAITER!!

Undercarriage
Underneath is all clean and well black and plenty of aluminum for the stamped floor pans unpainted. Keeping the wide 305/30ZR19 rubber planted to the road is an independent Macpherson strut front suspension and in the rear, we see an independent 4.5 link and coil spring suspension. Giant Brembo carbon ceramic power disc brakes are all around for stopping and all is well underneath this rocket ship.

Drive-Ability
Like 2 kids taking our new toy out of the wrapper, my partner in crime and I took this car out for a spin and we were not disappointed. Like new condition, it started right up, and we were off. Obscene amounts of power and the factory shifter was so nice we went through the gears effortlessly. Great handling with the performance suspension and all is in good working condition.

Just like a favorite toy, this consignor took very good care of his car after playing with it, put it back in its garage and kept it safely all buttoned up until the next time to play. Attention grabbing Hot Red paint on the outside and nice supple Recaro leather and suede on the inside, all with futuristic design, and plenty of conveniences. Add in those horses and take me to hyperspace captain.
