DESCRIPTION

It's a fact: it is absolutely impossible to build an ugly '33 Ford. This fantastic 1933 Ford 4-door sedan is ample proof, with a perfect hot-rod stance, a killer two-tone color combination, powerful 350 V8 engine, the practicality of four doors, and all the creature comforts you'd expect of a high-quality build.



First off, this rod is 100% steel, including the beautifully sculpted swooping fenders and running boards, which certainly explains why this '33 looks so darn good. Even without a major chopped top, the sedan body style looks sleek and low with that awesome rake to the stance, and with lots of window area you know it was made to drive. The two-tone, Ebony Black over Viper Red finish was a perfect choice, and freeing up the clutter by removing the bumpers and most of the trim has really streamlined this sedan. High-end paint really helps too, and both the deep black finish up top and lustrous red finish below were laid down to a nearly show standard, with hardly any imperfections to report. The two colors are separated by a white spear that encircles the body, a sunroof was added up top, and we love that they kept chrome door handles in place to amplify this Ford's 4-door design, instead of trying to hide it. With a chrome grille shell and shiny hood ornament, there's no mistaking this as anything but a pre-war Ford, and the King Bee style headlights look fantastic nestled between that grille and the swooping fenders. The paint is a handsome, high-end two-stage urethane, but with no graphics, no flames, or nothing that detracts from the classic shape, this streetrod will always look timeless. Kudos to the builders for getting this one exactly right. There's even a cleverly hidden gas cap out back that was installed flush against the rear of the body, and the protruding blue-dot taillights and dual chrome exhaust pipes down below add to the hotrod vibe.



Suicide-style doors were factory-issue on sedans in 1933, so stepping inside is easy. Once you're in there, you'll find lovely black leather buckets accented with white inserts that are as luxurious as anything you'll buy today. Those two buckets up front fit neatly in the vintage sedan, and the full-sized, sculpted rear bench is comfortable for full-sized adults. The original dash has been beautifully re-created, wrapped in leather, and then filled with black-faced VDO gauges ahead of the driver that keep an eye on the upgraded motor under the hood. Controls for a full Vintage A/C system were installed in the center (though it does look to need a service), while just below a console stack was incorporated to match the dash, and it houses billet A/C vents, a Kenwood AM/FM/CD/AUX head unit, the command module for the RideTech suspension installed blow, and switches for the power windows and locks. A flashy leather-wrapped billet steering wheel mounted atop a polished tilt column anchors the spacious cabin and feels great in the hands of the driver, while the ornate door panels, plush carpets, and custom leather headliner show that nothing was done halfway inside.



With the hood closed, there's no way to know what lives within, and that's part of this rod's magic. The truth is, there's an upgraded GM 350 V8 crate motor in there, a smooth, torquey powerplant that makes this big sedan move like it weighs 100 pounds less than it actually does. A tuned-in 6-pack carburetor set-up from Edelbrock feeds the powerful small block with the help of steel fuel rails and steel-braided lines, and the presentation is wonderfully old-school, with six individual air cleaners and matching valve covers all adding flash inside the finished red engine bay. and a serpentine belt drive system for the accessories ensures reliability. A TH350 3-speed automatic transmission is easily stout enough to handle the engine's output, while a full custom RideTech air-ride suspension punctuated with upgraded A-arms, trailing arms, shocks, rack-and-pinion steering, and power 4-wheel disc brakes all make this '33 a dream to drive. Staggered Boyd Coddington wheels look right with lots of performance rubber wrapped around them, 205/40/17s up front and 245/45/18s in back.
