A complete refabrication brings her to a wonderful level of drivability. Just read how she’s been completed and visualize, if you will, your favorite rims on this classic beauty.

A COVID project and a significant amount of coin has brought our A back to the road team. She now has a new motor and tranny, hydraulic brakes and modern modifications to make her absolutely road worthy. A time capsule in so many ways. Located in Hemet, CA our Refurbish’r-Owner has a clean and clear title and is about to start his next Pre-War project.

She’s black and all steel, with just a hint of old body work. Our A’s rebuild actually started back in the mid 1970’s. Nice things were done, and the son bought her in 1986. Run until 1998 when she went into storage, she sat until this last year. Her paint was still very presentable, especially after expert touch. Her 50-year-old paint shows very nice and her brightwork is, too, older, nice but for a bit of patina. A wheel package has not been selected, saving it for the tastes of the Buyer.

Cleaned, she’s older and not perfect but very nice plus accents like the dash plate have been chromed. Her interior will be complete with rubber matting on the new wood flooring. Her top is in good condition, slightly aged and with just a few stains. Her rumble seat shows very nice and her operation is smooth.

A fully rebuilt and modified 201 cid flathead 4 cyl is believed to be original to the car and has 80 miles since said rebuild. Pepping her to an estimated 80 h.p. our Owner replaced the crankshaft and added an improved aluminum head, aluminum intake manifold and down-draft carburetor from Webber. The transmission was replaced during that 70’s show and she now sports running gear from a 1939 Ford, giving her a 3 speed manual transmission, rebuild 2020, with an upgraded clutch and flywheel (2020). All brakes have been ‘upgraded’ to hydraulic, thanks to that donor 1939 car. They were addressed again with a complete rebuild during last year’s work, including new wheel cylinders and master cylinder.

The thorough review of this old Ford A was performed by a much younger Inspector from Lemon Squad. He found her a delight to drive and was taught the pedals of a by-gone era of motoring. Once motoring about, he was impressed with her power and became educated on the finer points of Flathead motor. He did observe fluid seepage in the running gear. Cosmetically, items of note at the interior were discovered as well as minor flaws on the exterior. Really, she’s in wonderful shape and very, very road worthy.

COVID has sucked for all, and those that can take their mind off the challenges with a sweet nut n bolt project have a luxury. These projects require mechanical aptitude, past lessons and, you guessed it, a pocket full of Benjamín’s. The receipts added up but so did the completion. Just a bit more coin and you will have a fine, show ready, cruise worthy true classic with a story to tell.
