DESCRIPTION

1986 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS

This once mild-mannered 1986 Monte Carlo SS up for consignment, now contains some extra go fast parts. All the while keeping an unassuming allure with wrinkled hood and drivers door, patina across the trunk, a roof line appearing shot peened, and lots of dull black paint with orange and red accenting stripes, many passersby would never think this G-body notchback would be ready to hand out a quasi ass kikkin\'. Prepare yourself to be both appalled and maybe pleasantly surprised!

NOTE: Due to modifications of the emissions control devices installed by the manufacturer, please check your local, state, and federal laws to determine if this vehicle is applicable for use on public highways in your area.

Exterior
Black dulled and patina riddled paint adorns the exterior of this sleeper car, and it has its share of faults. Mainly the dent in the hood and unfortunate incident with the driver\'s door which have created unrepaired war wounds. Scratches, cracking and even some tasteful use of gaffer tape to cover rust holes can be noted. On the neoprene bumpers chips appear aplenty as well. This two-door model features the standard issue notchback style rear window, rear deck lid spoiler, and a blacked-out grille and headlight bezels with high output headlights. A trio of orange and red racing stripes race around the below belt line of this car. Noted on all 4 corners are the 15-inch 5 spoke mag style blackened 5 bolt wheels wrapped with performance 235/60R15 Eldorado Legend GT rubber wrapping them.

Interior
A swing of the black upper velour coated doors shows some wear on the sills and some shiny framed power window toggles. The mid section houses the armrests in molded maroon vinyl and the lowers in maroon carpeting. I slipped inside and perched upon power black leather Z06 high back buckets courtesy a Corvette. These seats are powered and in good condition for the black leather. Racing between the buckets is the factory maroon plastic console with its T-handle automatic shifter, a storage compartment/armrest and a small coil cubby tucked neatly under the dash. In back the factory maroon velour bench still remains, and the tuck and roll pattern has faded slightly. A factory black SS steering wheel is front an 80\'s square and rectangle design wrap around dash. It has the original rally dash gauges, AC vents and a lineup of knobs and pulls on the bottom. In dash center is a square containing the temp sliders and an Alpine HD AM/FM/CD digital radio that you can hook your phone up to. Hanging below are two aftermarket oil and water temp gauges. Maroon carpeting covers the floors and appears clean and a solid black broadcloth headliner is above.

Drivetrain
Popping the hood, we are met with the heart beat and soul of this wolf in sheep\'s clothing. Resting between the inner fenders is 383ci V8 that our states has been dyno tested at 406hp however there is no documentation to prove otherwise. It is fed by MSD Atomic EFI and on the back is a 200R4 4-speed automatic which has been rebuilt with a Precision Industries 2600-2800rpm converter. Way back a Spohn Performance Moser 9 inch rear is on to shred the rubber. Headers and a Flowmaster exhaust are now installed for the big exhale and a Spal dual electric fan setupis strapped to the DeWitt Performance aluminum radiator. Noted there are no catalytic converters.

Undercarriage
Patina riddled undercoating covers the frame, floors and suspension components with only minor surface rust showing here and there. Power disc brakes on the front and rear of the car provide the whooah factor. Power steering is in, as is AC. Dual exhaust in stainless form, snakes back from the headers and standard Flowmaster mufflers then exits with blackened tips at the rear of the car. Independent and air bagged front suspension is on along with a 4-link and air bagged rear suspension both courtesy of RideTech. There is an anti roll bar installed in the back as well.

Drive-Ability
I summoned Honey my blue tick coon hound to ride shotgun with me and she gladly wagged and hopped in. A twist of the key and the 383 cubes instantly fired to life. I was met with snappy acceleration, firm crisp shifting from the 4-speed automatic and great braking. All functions were operational at the time of my drive and lest I forget, when I got heavy with my boot, spinning the tires was done with ease. Honey was barking like she saw some coon, and ended up in the back seat!

An unassuming wolf in unshorn sheep\'s clothing. It looks the part of a beat up 1986 Monte from the exterior, but with some mechanical and performance upgrades this sleeper powers forward like a dream. I almost pulled the trigger on this one myself, as it would look great parked in front of garage but I\'m going to leave it for you as both my license and marriage would be suspended if it came to my humble home.
