Keeping her classy, we find the 80’s producing vehicles that ‘limit’ performance but exude in comfort. Few meet, let alone exceed a level of coach elegance like a Cadillac.
Our cruiser hails from Houston Texas and has a clean, unencumbered title in the Owner’s name. Her odometer shows just over 32,000 miles and is reported as a two-owner car. While her condition is wonderful, we cannot confirm the exact mileage. She is a stunner, showing off her recent paint job and care only expressed by those high in pride of ownership.
Repainted in 2016 at a reported cost of $6500, she shows just simply beautiful. Her vinyl top was replaced during the re-coating. Added after the recoat is a factory styled hand-painted red pinstripe. Chrome and brightwork, a rarity in the 80’s, shows bright and in very nice condition. Exterior remains original and finishes with factory hub caps.
Stock and luxurious, she carries royal blue cloth upholstery. And true to Caddy style, she has power everything. Owner notes that while the air conditioning was refurbished in 2016, it is not operational at this time. All other accessories are reported to function proper at this time.
Factory stock and original, she is powered by Caddy’s efficient 4.1 litre fuel injected V8. Backing the motor is a four-speed automatic transmission. All remaining running gear is stock, original, and performing near flawless. A balance of efficiency and not too boring power bring us, well, the 80’s.
A thorough review of both her mechanical condition and cosmetics was performed by Lemon Squad. She was found to be in very good to excellent condition, with a few items noted. Cosmetic items were attributed to normal wear and our inspector noted the high quality of the repaint. Mechanically some accessory items were not working proper and, as noted, her a/c is not functioning. She performed wonderfully during the test drive.
This Caddy is fast approaching her 40th year of luxurious service. Her new paint just brings on the beauty of those classic lines. Sedans of the 1980’s are showing surprisingly strong support in the archetypal community and represent a potential buying opportunity. There value has seen a climb of late as their popularity gains.
