1981 Lincoln Mark VI 2 Door Hardtop

For consignment, a 1981 Lincoln Mark VI showing 39,983 miles, but the true miles are unknown. Here we have a bit of a wolf in sheep\'s clothing as this luxury ride packs a race infused five liter under the hood!

Due to varying emissions control devices being removed, please check with your state, county, local or provincial motor vehicle department to verify the ability to legally register this vehicle in your area***

Exterior
With straight as arrow steel panels all squared off and rust free and well minded gaps, this cars exterior is bathed in classic Lincoln White with a red pinstripe along the waistline. Two color matched doors cover the dual headlights which flank the shiny grille with Rolls-Royce inspired styling. A large bumper is below and on either corner of the front quarters are cathedral style running lights/turn signal lighting. On the bottom of this car starting just behind the front bumper is a nice stainless trimming which floats on top of some metallic gray paint on the doors and rockers. The back third of the roof is covered in clean and tear free white padded vinyl and sports coach lamps and oval opera windows on the C pillar, etched with a gold Lincoln badge. On the back, thin vertical tail lights wrap around the angled edges of the rear quarters and the iconic faux Continental kit is now molded into the trunk lid. The wheels and tires you see here will not go with the car and will be substituted with chrome 17-inch chrome wire wheels and Vogue style tires with an early 2022 date code. Imperfections include various chips and inclusions throughout, some chipped pinstriping, cracking, orange peel,

Interior
Opening either of the doors and in particular the driver\'s door, we have plenty of surfaces befitting a luxury automobile. We see brushed stainless steel toggle panels, chromed door actuator and lock panel, and a generous wood appliqu paneling. Toe\'s deep red carpeting is below while large white leather seats show some age, most notably on the driver\'s side of the split bench. Plenty of extra padding for the lumbar portion of the seat and basically these are oversized buckets with a central fold down armrest and the back seating is just as couch-like and in great shape. Up front, red plastics and woodgrain adorn an angular instrument cluster with digital readouts fronted by a four spoke steering wheel with thumb controls and the same palette of colors. Temp sliders and a digital display radio/stereo cassette player fit within their own panels, sandwiching a series of plastic buttons for a trip log. Like much of the interior, the headliner is in great shape and the big trunk is fully finished in gray cloth panels.

Drivetrain
A pop of the large hood and we greet a highly detailed very clean corrosion free engine and engine bay. We are looking at a 5.0 liter V8, bored .030 over housing Ford Racing 1.7 roller rockers and GT40x aluminum cylinder heads and a Ford HO Roller camshaft. A Holley EFI system manages fuel delivery and the powerplant is mated to an AOD 4-speed automatic transmission putting power to the Ford 8.8 inch rear axle. Ford Racing Shorty headers are on board as are the usual amenities of power brakes, power steering, and air conditioning.

Undercarriage
Dry conditions and typical surface rust is found underneath where the true dual exhaust travels through stock style mufflers and exits discreetly in the back. Power disc brakes are up front with drums in back and coil springs are at both ends with a 4 link helping out in back.

Drive-Ability
Sure, Continentals are known for their quiet and floaty rides and while the ride quality remains, this one has a bit more resonance to its exhaust tones and displays good power on the test loop. It\'s like sitting in a luxury hotel lobby and some modified Mustang influence under the long hood. We note the passenger\'s power window and power antenna are not working but all other functions operate as intended. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.

Sure, Lincoln would go on to produce sporty versions including the LSC and Cadillac would produce fast luxury vehicles in the V-series. But this one takes a 1981 luxury cruiser and brings it to the gym where it gains some muscle for an era that was known as providing magic carpet rides and serene experiences. It still is, but now it\'s got six pack abs.

Classic Auto Mall is home to more than 1,000 classic and collectible vehicles for sale via consignment in a climate controlled 336,000-square foot showroom
