DESCRIPTION

Red and white, what a combination for a sunny day cruiser. Original and unmolested, she’s a shapely cruiser. These larger GM cars set the stage for modern styling in the 50’s and carried them though the era of ‘fins’, the sideways style of those decorative detailed tails makes a ’60 Impala unique and treasured. And don’t forget, power was building in those V8 motors with more cubic inches.

Our red driving-hood comes from a collector located in High Point, NC. He inherited her from his uncle who was given the car some 20 years back. As the story goes, said Uncle and soon to be Aunt had their first date in a 1960 red Impala and the event is commemorated in this jeweled ride, and, as they say, the rest is family history. The title is now in our Owner’s name and is clear of all encumbrances.

Red paint adorn the beautiful lines of this ’60 and was redone years back in lacquer. When she’s washed and polished, we are assured that this is breathtaking. All chrome and brightwork is stated to be original and in very nice shape. The white top is in excellent condition – makes sense when you are stored amongst other classics. Stock and era correct down to the white walls and hub caps, she’s a thing of beauty.

Original vinyl combined with patterned cloth; it displays an era gone by. Excellent dash and dash pad, it snugs the drive and shines of an age where quality met function. The electric soft top is reported as operating proper, as are gauges and window operation. While the horn is inoperable, accessories like wipers, light and fan air all operate as designed.

Our clean and near perfect engine bay houses one of GM’s great power plants, the W block 348 cid overhead valved V8. Originally, she was delivered with a 4bbl. but smiles must have followed – that is followed when Triples were sat upon that beautiful motor. Having a large V8 with distinctive valve covers and triple deuce carburetors, now that’s Clasiq style. Backing the fun power-maker is a cruising Powerglide automatic transmission. All remaining running gear is stock and original, and a recent brake job bring safety to a day’s cruise.

What makes a car classic? Age, sure that’s not difficult, but to be near absolute in your originality, that indeed is. But really, you need to start with a foundation of style and a finned Impala has been graced with it. If you get to have performance, a rumble from a V8, that’s icing on the cake. Now, drop the top and it’s like the first time you…..…. Took the training wheel off your bike. Freedom and the wind in your hair.
