The 1970 Jensen Interceptor is already an exceptionally rare exotic, but this one is a true one-of-a-kind. It's a complete restomod, right down to the chassis, and it even was given fuel-injected Hemi power (that's why it's nicknamed the "Hemiceptor"). It all makes for a true custom build that mixes classic luxury, envy-worthy rarity, and modern performance.
This sports car was a true status symbol. Touring of Italy crafted a design with a long hood that features graceful curves in the sheetmetal. It's a timelessly seductive profile that was handcrafted in the old British style and given a burly American heart. That's why the Interceptors were the true icon of its day. But like many hand-built European exotics of its time, the Interceptors were far from perfect. And this is an expensive custom restomod that fixes all of that. In fact, we have a huge spreadsheet documenting over $160k invested in this custom creation. You can really understand its true quality once you take a closer look. The dark gray paint has the deep luster and metallic shine of a professional modern application. The blackout grille and trim harmonize with the dark paint color and give this a modern attitude. The same goes for the 17-inch Enkei wheels.
The Interceptors were known for their expensive and luxurious interiors, and so this one upholds that tradition nicely while upgrading for modern times. That means high-back bucket seats finished in a supple gray leather and a center console in-between. You have the best comfort features like cold-blowing air conditioning, power windows, power locks, a remote fob for door lock and rear hatch, and an AM/FM/CD stereo with USB and Bluetooth. And for those who understand the Interceptor's past, you'll be glad to know that part of this full build focused on rewiring the electrics and eliminating the Lucas components. This is a true driver's environment. So you have a sports steering wheel on a tilt column, and the top of the dash is dominated by Jaeger gauges angled towards you. And the classic-style Jaeger large speedo and tach now have a digital odometer to give you the proper restomod vibe.
The original Interceptors got their grand touring power from the best Mopar had to offer in the 1970s, and so this one takes that tradition into modern times. You have a fuel-injected 6.1-liter Hemi V8. The engine has been completely rebuilt by the custom specialists at Bradford Balance and Machine. The engine block was Sunnen honed .005 over. It was then enhanced and fortified with Wiseco forged 11:1 pistons, blueprinted heads (with matching valves, guides and valve seals,) a polished the crankshaft, and upgraded main bearings, rod bolts, and head bolts. There's also a FAST Big Mouth throttle body, Griffin aluminum radiator w/electric fan, Milodon oil pan, and headers feeding the custom dual exhaust system. The transmission is a remanufactured NAG1 five-speed automatic fortified by Southern Hot Rods. It's built to handle up to 800 hp. This modern motor and transmission setup can be dialed in just the way you want thanks to a laptop and software that come with the sale. When you see the undercarriage, this will look like no 1970s car you've seen. The suspension is a fresh upgrade all around with an Art Morrison independent front end, adjustable shocks, custom reinforced chassis, and a new stainless steel gas tank. Plus, the solid rear axle was changed to a custom independent rear end. You also have power steering, modern Goodyear Eagle tires, and Wilwood four-wheel power disc brakes. The result is a thoroughly modern machine that updates the Interceptor's reputation as a powerful, capable, and comfortable exotic.
