Here are some comments about this car from a student of these BMWs: \"I always enjoy your videos. This beautiful 1974 BMW 2002tii deserves a little more praise and a correction to at least one of the things you said. Let\'s start with the correction.

You kind of call this a 3-series and allude to an issue with front-end shimming. The E21, or first-year 3-series - commonly known as the 320i in the US - does have an issue with shimming (which is solved by buying the proper control arm bushings). This car is part of the \'02-series, and it never had the shimming issue.

There are some things to highlight about this car that you didn\'t mention.

The badge in the grill is from a 2002ti - the dual side-draft carburetor version of the car. It probably should be removed to avoid confusion.

I noticed that the center kidney grill might be upside down. The top is the one with a shallow center of the grill curve, and the bottom has the deeper center of the grill curve.

The 1974 to 1976 US BMW 2002s or 1974 BMW 2002tii (last year) came with the large bumpers. Someone put in the effort to convert them to the bumpers from a 1972 BMW 2002/2002tii. You can tell it\'s from a 1972 or 1973 since these are the only years with the rubber impact strips. The brackets from a 1972 allow the bumper to be closer to the body. The brackets from a 1973 push the bumpers farther out from the body. These are from a 1972 BMW 2002/2002tii.

The rear bumper features a European center section with US-spec bumper overriders. The European center piece features the license plate lights in the bumper. The US is solid because the license plate lights were placed on either side of the license plate bracket. They pointed to the license plate from the sides. This car has had its US license plate bracket removed (a tasteful modification). A set of European bumper caps or small overriders would be a nice upgrade to the US bumper overriders on the back bumper. Matching fronts would also be a nice upgrade.

All of the side markers have been shaved off, and they installed European flush-mounted front turn signals (tasteful modification).

The wheels are from a 320i. The factory alloys available for the \'02-series are also beautiful designs.

The optional and matching passenger-side rearview mirror is a nice added touch.

The trunk finish is interesting, but I wonder if people would rather see the shock towers without the tan coverings.

The intake system looks like it came from an earlier 2002tii engine. They had plastic downtubes, while later years had aluminum downtubes. The car tends to run slightly better and smoother with the plastic downtubes, so this is also a tasteful modification. The engine bay looks correct and tidy, with an original, unmolested nose.

The E21/320i overdrive 5-speed upgrade from the 4-speed or the rare and optional close-ratio 5-speed (with a dogleg 1st gear) makes this car very capable and nice to drive in traffic today. This is an excellent upgrade!

I love what they did with the center console and the fact that nobody has cut holes in the door panels or rear deck to place speakers for a radio in the car. This is a huge plus in my opinion. I wonder why someone took the time to move the antenna from the driver\'s side A-pillar to the roof when it doesn\'t have a radio. Either way, I like the roof-mounted antenna.

I am sure a number of folks will pass up on this car because it is the first year of the square taillights, plastic grills, and what would have been the big bumpers, but that would be a mistake. There are many advantages to these square taillight cars over their round taillight predecessors.

Good luck with the sale. It\'s a beautiful 2002tii and I am certain the new owner will be happy.\"

It comes with a clean California title and is exempt from smog certification.
