I just bought this car back from the gentleman I sold it to 20 years ago! Very rare. Genuine red, 340 HP car full of options. Originally a Texas car, restored in Oklahoma, garage kept locally the last 20 years. It has so many options it took 2 fender tags!
EXTERIOR: Very solid car. It has proven itself. That's the same paint job that was on it when I sold it over 20 years ago. Body is straight and fits really well. The paint is very glossy, yes there will be a couple flaws but overall the car shows fantastic. Features include Sport hood with black stripe, hood mounted turn signals, racing mirrors, luggage rack, pop up chrome gas cap and Rallye wheels. Front bumper is very bright, the whole grill area looks restored. The windshield looks new, door handles are excellent. The luggage rack is mint. Tail panel is restored, rear bumper is overall shiny with a dull area. Door jambs are nice, bottom of the doors are clean, has the original VIN number sticker and the weather strips are soft. Black convertible top is very good. Has correct grained material and glass window. Has boot when top is down.
INTERIOR: Very well cared for, not abused. Dash pad was replaced. Original plastic grained side panels are in excellent shape. Has Legendary upholstery. Console and instrument area are very nice, not broken or damaged. Has original slap stick shifter. Modern stereo, h.d. 6x9 speakers behind the seat. Has tachometer mounted below the dash. Visors, mirror, seat belts vents are very nice.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Completely rebuilt and balanced 340 high performance motor. Built by LRE (Legendary Racing Engines), has spec sheet. All quality parts were used- Crane cam and lifters, Keith Black pistons, ARP bolts etc. Upgraded aluminum intake, Holley Street Avenger carb and headers. Everything is neat and orderly. All the components on the firewall are nice, wiper motor looks new, has cowl seal and vents. The factory air conditioning system is entirely complete. Alternator looks new. Has proper radiator shroud, fan and big radiator. Options also include power steering and power brakes. The metal looks really nice and clean, painted a gloss red. Bottom of the hood is red and has insulation.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Solid metal trunk compartment. It was painted red when the car is painted. Includes a matching rally wheel and BFGoodrich tire for a spare. Has the complete jack assembly and rubber mat. Weatherstrip is excellent.
UNDERSIDE: Very solid, clean frame rails. 1 small floor plan was properly replaced. The front end was rebuilt. Recently 4 new shocks, front and rear sway bars were installed. Has disc brakes in front. Custom 2 1/2 inch exhaust system. We just had brand new mufflers installed, old mufflers are shown in the pictures. Has crossover pipe and correct exhaust tips. Has 727 Torqueflite auto trans and 8 3/4 sure grip rear with 3.55 gears.
This is a rare Challenger convertible that is full of factory options! Only 1,857 total convertibles made in 1971. I bet this would be 1 of 1 with these features. Not only rare but desirable. Air conditioned 340hp full of options and its red!
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my professional impression of the vehicle.
Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video that explains the car's condition in detail.
