Every first-generation Corvette makes people say "WOW!" when they see it. But the upgraded suspension, performance-built overdrive transmission, and powerful stroker V8 make this 1959 Chevrolet Corvette Restomod memorable for far more than just its cool custom paint.
Even before you check out all the street-eating features, this one has an instant attraction. That's because the '59 Corvette is already an icon. Four headlights up front and a curvaceous rear end that retains the tailfin style of the original - but in a much sleeker and sportier fashion. This one keeps all the great brightwork, including the wraparound bumpers, scalloping side trim, and the big toothy smile of the grille. Of course, you're looking at one that's distinctive for far more than just its stock features. The Midnight Blue Metallic has the kind of color and depth that the factory could never give, and so this instantly announces it's something custom. We particularly like how the iconic side coves draw extra attention with the custom silver fade. Adding to that shine are the 16-inch Torq Thrust wheels with extra meaty tires in the rear. If that didn't already signal this was a powerful machine, the huge cowl hood certainly will inform everyone. While you're starting to get the picture that this one has power, don't forget to look at its level of sophistication, too. After all, you get to tops and they both look terrific. The removable hardtop is color-matched to the unique paint, and it gives you a coupe-like profile. Plus, the soft top is done in a similar tone to the exterior paint to deliver a European-like style.
Of course, the best way to enjoy a first-gen Corvette is with no roof at all. And even when open to the world, these had style. The hard tonneau creates a waterfall of color in between to comfy leather bucket seats. There are some nice but subtle comfort upgrades like the leather wrap on the steering wheel and a retro-style AM/FM digital tuner. But what you really notice are the performance pieces, like the TCI lock-out shifter and the large AutoMeter tach with shift light.
One look at the shining components in the engine bay, and you can tell this V8 is radiating power. Just having a 383 cubic-inch stroker motor under the hood is a huge displacement upgrade from anything available in '59, but this one goes much further. It has been fortified and enhanced with AFR heads, Cam Techniques performance roller cam, Crane Cams rocker arms, JE Pistons, MSD ignition, and a March pulley system. It inhales deeply with a Demon four-barrel carburetor and Edelbrock intake, and it exhales with authority as long tube headers feed the Flowmaster dual exhaust. This is connected to a stout 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission built by Bow Tie Overdrives. That feeds a strong Ford 9-inch rear (and don't you just love how the frame and diff are color-matched to the car?) The front suspension has been upgraded to a Jim Meyer Racing Mustang II-style tubular front A-arm unit, and the rear is a four-link with adjustable coilovers. Plus, you have the control of four-wheel disc brakes and rack & pinion steering with an upgraded quicker ratio.
Complete with build receipts and service manuals, this is a very cool way to have unique and speedy icon. It has no apologies and no equals, so if you can tame the beast, you need to hurry and call today!
