This 1981 Chevrolet Camaro has a fun kind of distinction. There's a look of originality everywhere from the paint to the motor, and it even has some terrific features like cold-blowing A/C. So it's hard not to see this coupe and get some nostalgia...while you plan for the future.

The Bright Blue Metallic paint is factory-correct, and it also shows the right signs of being the factory-original application. As a 40+ year-old survivor, this is not perfect, but instead it looks like a well-earned patina. It also gives you a complete original style that's the central theme of this coupe. There are the right hints of sporty style with the Rally wheels and three-piece rear spoiler. And you have all the true 1980s details from the bright headlight bezels, to the plastic dealer cap on the back. And the silver and white stripe is pure retro-cool as it wraps over the roof and comes to a sharp point on both fenders. If you're looking for a pristine time capsule, this is not your car. Instead, what we like about this is the feeling it represents. This is the car you were excited to get handed down in high school, or maybe you see this as the base to upgrade the suspension, floors, etc., to build the full restomod you wanted to in high school. So while you can invest to get this back to a top condition, the point of a classic like this is really to get your mind going about the next step. Because as you dig into the rest of the details, you really start to see the full standout qualities that make you think about what to do with all this potential.

The sea of blue continues inside. It's quite clean everywhere from the smooth dash to the comfy tweed cloth on the seats. It looks like a time capsule, and the deeper you dig, the more it turns back the clock. This includes working details like the dome light and AM radio. Even the trunk is clean with a spare tire that looks like it has never touched the ground. Plus, cold-blowing air conditioning makes it a great car for cruising in modern times. That's why it's nice to have a driver-oriented setup with high-back front bucket seats, an armrest center console in-between, and an NK4 sports steering wheel.

Under the hood is the 3.8-liter V6. Just like the exterior, it has an honest appearance of originality. So while we all know there's a long list of big power V8s that fit in here, there's also a certain kind of everyday fun that's already here. You can feel it's a strong runner with just a possible need for a Saturday shade tree tune-up that you remember doing annually on these early 1980s cars. And the three-speed automatic transmission, power steering, and power brakes with front discs are all part of why we know this is a true easy cruiser right now.

This was the last year for the 2nd gen Camaro, and we bet your nostalgia is really starting to understand the potential in this one. Call today!!!
