This 1972 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 Restomod checks all those boxes that resonate with fans of modded classics. It's got all the power you could want via the built big block sitting under its cowl hood, along with an impressive array of additional top shelf performance parts and upgrades, and its next lucky owner will be wielding all that power within the confines of a very clean and well equipped cockpit. Add to that its off the charts curb appeal and you have yourself a ride with few equals.
As this classic Chevy rumbles toward you, its high-impact exterior - clad in a deep gloss black paint - will catch your eye right away. It's in great shape, with no distracting dings or scuffs and the combination of five coats of paint topped with a very strong clearcoat have created quite an impressive result. This car's second generation Camaro form is an attention getter to begin with and the modifications on board here - all of which were done with precision - amp things up even further. It strikes a nice balance: aggressive enough to leave no doubt of the customization that's taken place - most notably the prominent steel cowl hood and blacked out side mirrors - without straying too far from stock appearance. The badgeless look here allows the deep gloss and striking shade to take center stage and all of the trim and brightwork is also in top form.
A well appointed interior awaits beyond the doors, anchored by a pair of Cerullo racing-style bucket seats that offer a great blend of comfort and support as they sit astride a very clean center console with its instantly recognizable B&M shifter. The surrounding 4-point roll cage offers protection should the unforeseen ever happen, while signaling that uncompromising performance is a priority in this classic. Just beyond the LeCarra steering wheel, you'll find a full complement of white-faced AutoMeter gauges recessed into the dash, with a fresh, supple looking dash pad running across the top and an aftermarket AM/FM/CD stereo standing by to attend to your audio needs while on the road. Above, you'll find a well-fitted headliner and below there's an expanse of fresh black carpeting and everything inside the doors looks very clean, with no real signs of wear. Raise the decklid and you'll be greeted by a 10-gallon fuel cell entrusted with feeding this unusually powerful street machine.
The cowl hood on this '72 signals that there's plenty of power lurking just below, and the outstanding array of top tier components assembled in the engine compartment certainly backs that up. The 502 cubic inch crate motor sitting front and center has been balanced, blue printed and built to the gills, with an Edelbrock dual plane intake manifold and Holley carb teaming with a Crower billet hydraulic roller cam, roller rockers and a pair of aluminum heads that were ported and polished to produce a jaw-dropping 625 horsepower. The big block looks outstanding, dressed with a black, open element air cleaner and sharply badged valve covers and it sends a commanding note out through the Hooker competition ceramic-coated headers leading to a 3 inch exhaust. Behind it, the 3-speed automatic TH400 transmission has been properly fortified to handle all that power, while the Richmond 3:90 gears in back equate to g-force inducing off the line acceleration. Power steering makes this Chevy a joy to drive, while power brakes that feature performance discs in front and back bring its set of show-stopping, 18" black Billet Specialties wheels wrapped with Nitto tires to quick, dependable stops.
