1981 Delorean DMC-12 Automatic

Automatic— Black interior — Early model
Production: The first production car carries VIN 000500 and 1981 production ended at the end of November 1981 with VIN 007199. The VIN on this car is 001303. Therefore this is the 803rd vehicle built. The early production hood design is still the best looking.
Mileage: 11, 990 (low Mileage)
Condition: Extremely good to excellent ( one small dent on drivers 1/4 panel and roof panel is slightly bowed at the back glass.)
The vehicle was obtained in a non running condition, it started but was in need of extensive maintenance.
What has been repaired:
Complete brake system was rebuilt (calipers rebuilt, master cylinder replaced with new unit , 2x new rotors come with the car but were not needed, new brake fluid)
Cooling system: all new hoses were installed, most of the hose clamps are new and the aluminum pipes were refurbished or repaired. Water pump was replaced, the y-pipe under the intake manifold was replaced and both cold start sensors on the y-pipe were replaced as well. The intake valley was cleaned and painted prior to reinstall of the intake manifold with new gaskets. The fragile plastic overflow tank was replaced with a chrome metal tank.
Fuel system: The Bosch fuel distributor has been recently refurbished, the rubber fuel injectors lines have been replaced with braided stainless steel lines. Fuel injectors were professionally refurbished. Additional fuel system components have been replaced. The fuel injectors and fuel distributor need to be reinstalled. The gas tank sending unit and separate inline pump has been updated for efficiency and performance with a much more modern unit specifically deigned for DMC-12
Charging system: The original alternator was replaced with a DMC-12 high output alternator, brackets and belts.
Tires: The car has brand new tires. (if you know the designer of the DMC-12, you will recognize the name)
Body: the passenger door torsion bar was replaced , but the torsion bar needs to be adjusted to hold the door all the way up. I do not have the tool, therefore contact with one of the four Delorean repair shops or Delorean club(s) can assist with this operation.
Engine: Engine was cleaned and another set of valve covers were obtained ( cleaned and conditioned) to replace the oxidized valve covers on the car.
The car comes with extra mechanical parts obtained from a vehicle that was totaled out by the insurance company.
The undercarriage was meticulously hand painted grey to help preserve the undercarriage and prohibit rust in the late 1990’s
The bad: The engine compartment refurbished fuel system needs to be installed (fuel distributor, fuel injectors lines and fuel injectors).
The passenger door had the torsion bar replaced and needs adjustment
The transmission shift linkage needs to be adjusted. I started the car in Neutral, as starting the car in park was not a guarantee that the car would not move when starting. Upon reading the TSM and other sources it appears the linkage needs adjustment.
The car has not been started in almost 6 years. It has been stored indoor on jack stands in a environmental controlled room.
Price: $27,850.00 (Based on the value of this car, this is an excellent price , Hagerty is over $47,000 in good condition and $70, 000 in excellent condition. This car easily fits between the Good to excellent condition once the final touches of the mechanical work is completed.) Most of the mechanical repairs have been completed or the parts refurbished. To install the fuel system parts is relatively a one day job by a competent mechanic. The car is sold as is, with no warranties or implied warranties.
