DESCRIPTION

1969 Plymouth Satellite Hardtop

Ever have one of those moments when you find a rare classic with a price that seems too good to be true? The \'coolest of the cool\' that\'s survived almost 50 years of vehicle downsizing, fuel thirsty gearheads and stoplight fisticuffs? Well, you don\'t have to worry about getting pinched back to reality this time because this killer 1969 Plymouth Satellite has a newly appointed engine, (less then 4K mikes), and it\'s comfortable on either the strip or the show field! If you\'re looking for a bad to the bone investment that\'s fun to look at, a blast to drive and ready to hit the show circuit as soon as it rolls out of our showroom, congratulations, you\'ve found your next car!

Exterior
Thanks to lessons learned in both packaging and branding, Plymouth outfitted their hottest 1969 mid-size with a number of fresh styling cues that served to better differentiate the car from its more pedestrian Belvedere siblings. At the front of this Satellite\'s long Limelight Green Metallic and black accented body a stainless steel Satellite grille hangs below the black painted and custom fabricated 6-pack style scooped hood. On either front side are dual circular head lighting. At the sides of that stainless, dent-free rocker moldings combine with like-new wheel well trim to anchor Satellite fender emblems between traditional chrome door handles and what appear to be original side mirrors. And at the back of the car\'s body, branded pot metal trunk trim aligns perfectly between clear factory square shaped angled from back edge to trunk lid edge tail lights, a second small \"PLYMOUTH\" script and a second chrome bumper. Dual tail pipes peek out the back near the center. A shout out to the B pillar which gives the black painted roofline the illusion of moving forward while just literally sitting there. A slightly jacked up stance is showing off some 15-inch polished Centerline wheels wrapped in front by 215/70R15 black walls, and in back are hefty 295/50R15 black wall rubber wrappings . Smoke \'em if ya got \'em!

Interior
Open this Satellite\'s Limelight Green doors and you\'ll find one of the coolest interiors ever bolted behind a big Mopar engine. This cockpit brings a real sense of class to a car with a generally solemn and subdued nature. In front of the driver, an original instrument cluster sits inside a supple and pliable top black pad. Next to that cluster, you\'ll find a correct Chrysler Solid State AM radio. Fronting this cool dash is a sweet looking 3-spoke steering wheel that spins in black leatherette covered rim and sports a central fratzog centerpiece. At the sides of the seats, correct door panels carry black trim, chrome door handles integrated in the black vinyl armrests. Steel black pointed sills have faux stitched horizontal ribs in black vinyl. A black vinyl split back bench in low back form is sporting some tuck and roll inserts and smooth black bolsters and looking fine. The rear bench is in the same configuration and looking even finer with less wear. A sea of clean black carpeting covers the floors. The vinyl headliner above is factory showroom nice and tight and also in black.

Drivetrain
Under that menacing black scooped hood that exudes that don\'t \"eff\" with me look, we see the reason why. It shows and growls in the likeness of a 440ci V8 which is a rebuilt engine with receipts and is a 1978 casting. It has aftermarket aluminum heads and Holley Sniper EFI to feed its fossils. On the back is a rebuilt A727 Torqueflite 3-speed automatic transmission. An 8-3/4 inch rear axle is on to turn the big back tires into smoke. Dual exhaust uses Pypes mufflers to make the sound and provide the exhale. The engine bay looks clean and green...literally!

Undercarriage
Some light spotty surface rust, mostly unremarkable shows up underneath but it\'s mostly black painted framing and suspension we look at. Speaking of which, is an independent front torsion bar arrangement and for the back leaf springs. Drum brakes are on all 4 corners.

Drive-Ability
This muscle car fired up with a mighty roar and on the test track teased me to get goosey with my boot, and I acquiesced. As a result my neck snapped back and a smile came to my face. The car handled well and had nifty bias free panic stopping, which played itself out after my foray into the speed zone. The radio was not working, and the reverse lights were dark when I shifted the car into backup mode but all else functioned as it should.

Ya gotta love these 60\'s muscle cars. This example with neat-o paint in Limelight Green Metallic and some black, a newer 440ci V8, aluminum heads and EFI makes it accelerate like there is no tomorrow. And it looks the part with those canted tail lights and jacked up stance. Puhhhhhh to the Belvedere here is a Satellite that will put your fun in orbit!
