1931 Ford Model A Pickup
For consignment, an AACA National 1st Senior Award winning 1931 Ford Model A pickup truck showing 359 miles, but the true miles are unknown due to PA title exemption. You can\'t go wrong with this body style, visually bolstered here by stake sides and a spectacular, oak lined bed.
Exterior
A rich shade of Brewster Green covers the body of this truck and is a nice detour from the typical black models of the era. Period contrast is typical here with a black running board and fenders that arch gracefully over 19-inch wire wheels, also in black with a matching spare riding the left fender. The solid roof is color matched and gives way to a windshield visor and drip rails. Up front, it\'s classic Model A with a painted rather than polished radiator surround, bulging headlights on a lightbar, and the double ribbon chrome bumper, all in nice shape. Step over to the back and get a look at the beautiful golden wood side stakes and flawless planks in the bed, delineated by body matched, painted rails. Imperfections include some surface scratches, cracking paint, orange peel texture, staining, and chips.
Interior
Nothing was very elaborate in 1931 so door panels and the bench seat are covered in simple black vinyl on the doors and grain vinyl on the seats, also black and bordered by black piping. The driver gets a four spoke steering wheel with turn signal on the column ahead of the green and black painted dashboard and the polished clover leaf instrument panel in the center, all under a windshield that can be pivoted open. A rubberized floor covering is fitted perfectly and the floor mounted shifter wears a black knobbed handle.
Drivetrain
Looking clean and original is the green blocked 201ci inline four cylinder in the engine compartment, rated at 40 horsepower and fueled via a rebuilt 1-barrel carburetor. Behind it, a 3-speed manual transmission sends power to the rear axle with 4.11 gears. The pickup runs on a 6-volt system.
Undercarriage
Clean black and green paint, bright boards, and rust free, this presents as a nice example. We note some oil on the pan, but are not deterred. Transverse leaf springs and mechanical drum brakes occupy the front and back while the single exhaust includes a stock style muffler then terminates under the bed of this nearly flawless underside.
Drive-Ability
When we apply throttle, the truck shuts down, so we suspect the fuel system needs service. Beyond those things, the functional items work as they should. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.
This classic pickup has the Wow factor! A stunning color combination, a clean interior, and get a load of that bed. Considering the supportive Model A community that\'s out there, we wouldn\'t let the fuel issue be a deal breaker, this is a superb example of an early pickup truck that is a true piece of Americana and will be ideal for getting you from one end of the Memorial Day parade to the other!
