DESCRIPTION
This FJ40 is the spectacular result of the consignors efforts to create a very special FJ40. He is very well qualified to complete this build as a graduate of the prestigious Pasadena Art Center of Design (Chip Foose alumni) known for their automotive design program. This truck shows an extreme attention to detail and pride of workmanship, it is one of the very best! Here are the consignor\'s comments: \"With only 92,000 original miles, this is an original North American truck that spent most of its life in Utah before coming to California. Though originally a soft top VIN, the vehicle was fitted with a factory original hard top and highly desirable late model doors. For open air cruising a full length bikini top and half doors are included. A zero rust, white-metal, nut-and-bolt frame-off restoration was completed in 2026. I have all the documents, work orders and complete photo documentation of the entire process. The finish is factory Dune Beige sprayed with two-stage DuPont and accented with black power-coated hardware and accessories.
A fuel-injected Chevrolet 350 V8 drives the original rebuilt Toyota 4-speed manual transmission and modified two-speed twin-stick transfer case. Safety enhancements include a 4-wheel disc brake conversion with power-assisted master cylinder, saginaw power steering with Flaming River tilt steering column. The truck rides on a 2.5-inch Specter Off Road suspension lift and metric 33-inch Toyo tires on 17-inch American Racing street lock aluminum wheels.

Regarding the restoration process and my approach, my intent throughout the build was to retain the character and mechanical simplicity of the FJ40 while making it genuinely usable as a modern California daily driver. I focused on safety, reliability and robust off road capability. The chassis was completely stripped during the restoration, refinished and undercoated. Fenders and the full interior tub are protected with Line-X. The truck has essentially no rust.
The original-style body retains the classic FJ40 appearance while incorporating subtle functional upgrades, including diamond-plate rear quarter protection, fender flares, and if desired a fully restored Con-Ferr roof rack. A 4-Plus BTB winch bumper and OEM style rock sliders and side steps add to the durability and protect the finish from trail damage.
Additional items included in the sale: Everything is fully restored, powder-coated etc.
Con-Ferr roof rack
Complete vintage rack with mounting hardware. I\'ve attached a photo of the actual rack and a visualization of it installed.
Extra wheels
Matching set of rims corresponding to the wheel currently used for the rear spare. These were essentially my alternate/off-road wheels.
Original heater components
Heater box, blower and interior ducting removed during the build. I kept these for a future owner who might value retaining the original equipment.
Parts box The miscellaneous small parts accompany the truck.
Extra alternator
High performance 12 volt radiator electric coolong fan
It comes with a clean California title and is exempt from smog certification.
