DESCRIPTION

1991 Ford Mustang LX Convertible

For consignment, a 1991 Ford Mustang LX convertible showing 72,643 miles, but the true miles are unknown. A \'91 Foxbody owner online was forward with their admiration of the model, \"This car is perfect. I would buy this car over any car in my budget, hands down. Anyone who says anything bad about a Fox-body Mustang with a 5.0L V8, needs to stay away from my car.\". Yes, the Mustang crowd is a passionate one.

Due to modifications of the emissions control devices installed by the manufacturer, please check your local, state, and federal laws to determine if this vehicle is applicable for use on public highways in your area.*

Exterior
Bright Red is dramatically contrasted by the white 16-inch Pony wheels and white canvas top, a combination that\'s an instant head turner on a familiar and once ubiquitous body style. A bold band of black side molding tracks from end to end but doesn\'t stop there, rather encircles the rear bumper cover and the front bumper, stopping with enough space for Mustang to be stamped into the urethane cover. Smoked lenses up front and even darker smoke on the tail light lenses add some aggression, and straight, polished exhaust pipes are icing on the cake. But it\'s not all aggression here as a luggage rack domesticates this pony car just a touch. Imperfections include some staining on the white top, scratches, chips, paint coming off the molding exposing the yellow urethane, blotchy patches on the rocker panel, and scuffs on the front valance.

Interior
The attractive palette continues on the inside with white door panels with black switchgear and red pleated storage pockets on the bottom and both present well. Inside, white leather covers the sport bucket seats and the rear 2+2 and other than some compression of the outer supports in front along with some patina creasing, all seats remain in good shape. Black occupies the front beginning with the steering wheel and ending with the top half of the dash that holds the basic instrument cluster sandwiches by side toggle pods. A band of Scarlet takes in the vents midway on the panel and leads to the black center stack with A/C panel and AM/FM/CD player. The center console is home to the ubiquitous T-handled Ford shifter on a black plastic faceplate that\'s in great shape, followed by more scarlet plastic now including a cupholder. Red carpet covers the floor and the floor mats and the trunk is fully lined in gray cloth panels, all clean.

Drivetrain
The super clean engine bay houses the venerable 5.0 liter V8, fuel injected and rated at 225 horsepower. It\'s backed by an AOD Ford 4-speed automatic transmission that routes power to the built 8.8\" rear according to our consignor, with 3.27 gears and TracLoc. Headers are on board along with A/C, power steering and power brakes and a strut tower brace.

Undercarriage
Clean underneath with some general evidence of use and age. Here, the dual exhaust enters an H-pipe, then a pair of FlowMaster mufflers before exiting through polished tips. There are no catalytic converters on board. Front power disc brakes have drilled and slotted rotors while power drums are in back. Suspension includes coil springs at both ends with a 4link in back.

Drive-Ability
These spry little pony cars never disappoint given the potent powerplant under a relatively light car. This one starts, drives and stops without issue providing a spirited run and straight tracking. We\'re finding the A/C not working but all other functions on board operate as intended. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.

Back in the day, this was our idea of a sleeper. While the GT was laden with side skirts and stripes, the LX was the low key option that to the untrained eye would look like the base four cylinder Mustang. But meet it at a red light and would awake from its slumber and leave just about all other cars on the roads wondering what just ate their lunch. Here\'s a very nice example in a vibrant spec ready take on all challengers, this time at car shows rather than red lights!
