DESCRIPTION

By the mid-1960s, Chevrolet\'s C10 half-ton pickup truck was well on its way from work/farm vehicle to personal recreation vehicle. This is an example of the first-generation C/K trucks, built between 1960 and 1966.

This particular Chevrolet pickup has gone a circular route to its present state it underwent a ground-up, frame-off restoration and now rides atop a K5 Chevrolet Blazer 4x4 chassis. This example originally came off of the assembly line at General Motors\' Norwood, Ohio factory (VIN code N).

Dressed in white over Light Green, the truck\'s paint and trim are in overall very good order. The bodywork is straight and solid, the engine bay is very tidy, the white bumpers fit tightly to the body and there is a fully-restored oak cargo bed out back in the 6.5-foot cargo bed.

The first-generation C/K trucks are built using body-on-frame construction. Diverging from light truck design precedent, the C/K ended its use of straight frame rails, adopting a drop-center design; 12-ton and 34-ton trucks used a hybrid of an X-frame and perimeter-frame layout, while 1-ton trucks used a drop-center ladder frame.

While more complex in design, the drop-center frame was stronger (necessitated by the upgraded suspension); the all-new layout also accommodated many upgrades, including mounting the cab seven inches lower; coinciding with easier entry, the redesign allowed for a lower center of gravity and improved stability.

This truck rolls on Kenda Klever M/T tires, size 33x12.50x50R15 at all four corners. Each tire is mounted to a slotted alloy wheel. The tires are in very good order while the wheels are in good, original condition. This truck rolls on a 115-inch wheelbase and has a 5,000 GVWR. It has after market gauges for oil press. Temp and tach, fuel gauge, horn are all inop.

Under the hood is a 350 CID V-8 engine breathing via dual exhausts. The motor is backed by a four-speed manual transmission. Driver convenience features include power steering, power brakes and a tilt steering column.

Inside, the black bench seat is in great shape and contrasts nicely with the light green cab. The black carpet looks good while the original light green headliner is in good, original order. The light green instrument panel with its strip speedometer and controls look great while the inner door liners are trimmed in light green with white. A floor-mounted shifter and an aftermarket AM/FM stereo resides in the dash while two aftermarket ancillary gauges are mounted below the dash.

From 1965 to 1966, the model line saw few fundamental changes to the body, with air conditioning became an option for the first time.
