DESCRIPTION

Porsche personality without breaking the bank. This fun Karmann Ghia has the look. A sixties era sports car with the heart of German mechanicals and the flair of Italian design.

The Karmann Ghia combined the chassis and mechanicals of the Beetle with styling by Italy's Carrozzeria Ghia and hand-built bodywork by German coachbuilding house Karmann. Sellers have owned it for 5 years and decided it’s time to explore the country with a fifth wheel trailer.

This fantastic color blue accented with the white racing stripe really suits the racy personality of the Karmann Ghia. Some will ask you if this is an early AC Cobra. Tinted windows and great looking Porsche polished alloy wheels at a thousand bucks a piece complement in spectacular fashion.. Italian seamless curves in a one piece body save for doors and hoods and that thin roofline make for a timeless look that only improves with age.

Two-tone leather seats with piping and matching door panels look sharp in combination with the exterior. Custom steering wheel is just the right size and has just the right grip and feel. Gauges are simple and easy to read.

There are some nice chrome additions to this VW powerplant with fun-to-drive 4 speed manual transmission. Runs great and shifts smooth with plenty of power. Aftermarket updates include performance carbs and exhaust giving it just the right rumble with no reverb on the highway.

No smoking or misfires and runs strong. Engine shows some oil leaks that are normal for a V-Dub of this era.. Brakes work well with no pulsation. Floorpan has been replaced. There is some rust in the boot area as to be expected. Paint was professionally done a few years ago and just has light scratches not visible in photos. Steering may need some adjustment, but otherwise handles well.

This is an affordable way to own one of the best designs VW ever came up with. This example was bought in California and has been well loved and well maintained. It’s time for you to enjoy, drive, show off and watch the value rise.
