DESCRIPTION

This 1966 Ford Fairlane 500 XL convertible is the kind of drop-top that came from the heart of the muscle car era. And with a strong 390 V8 upgrade, this is the kind of cool-cruising classic that has the power to back up its presence.

Ford gave us something to really love in 1966. It debuted the stacked headlight look that just seemed to make the whole front end look wide and imposing. The full profile has some of the best style around with a full-length crease, sporty kick-up in the rear fender, and artful tail lights. And this attractive style is all wrapped in a respray of the factory-correct Light Blue Metallic. It has a good look in the sunlight and an overall driver-quality finish. The result is a sunshine-friendly convertible that will never make you afraid to take it out on a Sunday drive. Plus, this knows how to show off the best of the muscle car era. You see it in details like rocker trim, 390 fender callouts, dual exhaust tips, and GT-style wheels.

The white convertible roof looks like the crest of an ocean wave against the exterior light blue. And keeping with the nautical theme, when you power the top down, the deep blue interior looks like you're going for a dive into deeper waters. It has a clean look and inviting style, right down to details like the intricate pleating of the upholstery. There are upgrades to this classic, but they are well integrated. For example, the stereo has a classic style, but it's really a retro unit with AM/FM and Bluetooth. This is also set up to be a great driver's car. You get classic pieces like the front bucket seats, a center console in-between, and a floor shifter. Plus, you have upgrades like the wood-rimmed sports steering wheel on a tilt column, and the gauges are a Dakota Digital VHX package.

There are hints of GT style inside and out, and this really earns a GTA feeling with the upgrade to a 390 cubic-inch V8 filling the engine bay. It has a tidy look from pieces like the polished air grabber and bright blue valve covers. And as you dig deeper, you can see investment in an upgraded four-barrel carburetor, Edelbrock intake, MSD distributor, and long tube headers feeding the dual exhaust and Flowmaster mufflers. Add in the three-speed automatic transmission, power steering, and wide BF Goodrich T/A tires, and you have a recipe for a fine cruiser.

Complete with build receipts and a wiring diagram manual, this Fairlane was restored only about a decade ago, and so it has a good look and a great driver's car feel. Call today!!!
