This 1946 Chevrolet 3100 is the kind of pickup that will always have a story to share. So it's great that it has been restored to be both a sleek looker and a strong runner.
This is the pickup truck that got American moving again after WWII. It looked a lot like the pre-war Chevys, but this DP-series was part of the first post-war full production year. Chevy would change the style again in '47, so these are always recognized as a significant vehicle in proper truck circles. The yellow paint is quite a nice application with enough gloss to really help emphasize the flowing-fender style of this pickup. It also has some great features like the oak wood truck bed and red detailing in the gunmetal gray grille. Plus, there are some nice upgrades in style and practicality, like the LED front turn signals, rear signals in the bed rails, a flush rear roll pan, and polished 15-inch wheels that give this a nice shine while also allowing it to fit modern tires.
The interior is still working-class all the way, but that's all part of the vintage truck appeal. There are few subtle upgrades in comfort, like grippy wrap around the steering wheel and a tuck and roll pattern on the seat. But nothing gets in the way of the honest pickup feel that's great to have on a significant classic like this. It has an authentic vintage appearance everywhere from the rubber floor mats to the texture of the metal dash.
Under the hood is the unmistakable long block of Chevy's inline six. This has a unique flair with the valve cover painted to match the exterior yellow. Plus, this has been built for exceptional power. This 235 cubic-inch motor keeps the spirit of the 1946 powerhouse, but with a larger displacement. The upgraded Clifford intake allows the fitting of dual carburetors. And the split exhaust manifolds allows this to exhale better. It creates one of the peppiest inline-six setups around. There are even good supporting components, like a 12-volt system upgrade and a newer radiator. The four-speed manual transmission gives you proper control over the motor.
Complete with build receipts and restoration photos, this '46 Chevy is a great classic pickup that can be driven to work or shows with plenty of pride. Someone gets to tell its story, and so you might want to hurry if it's going to be you. Call today!!!
