DESCRIPTION

1930 Packard 733 Standard 8 Convertible Coupe

For consignment, a 1930 Packard 733 Standard 8 series convertible coupe with a title verified 71,260 actual miles. Owned by our consignor since 2011, the car went through a mechanical refurbishment at Last Chance Garage and only driven occasionally since 2016.

Exterior
Between the 726 and 733, ten different body styles were available including this convertible coupe, here colored Orange with black accents that include the waistline stripe that extends to the long hood and of course, the fenders, running board, and base panels. The sweeping front fenders and tall, arching rears house 20-inch wire wheels underneath with white wall tires and spares are found on each side. Up top, a tan canvas top wears functional Landau bars and even further back, you\'ll find a full sized trunk on the foldable package shelf. The outstretched Goddess of Speed ornament, (known in some circles as the \"donut chaser\"), rises high on the hood, over a stately polished radiator shell and large headlights. Imperfections include staining throughout the hood and shoulder line, crazing on the cowl, blisters on the fenders, a vertical scratch on rear quarter, chips, scratches, tears in the trunk cover, a ding on the hood, and cracking paint.

Interior
Door panels are dressed in ultra smooth Khaki vinyl with the passenger\'s showing some lower wear. The flat bucket seats are couch like in their configuration, also in Khaki vinyl, and present nicely, matched in color and quality by the rumble seat in back. A rear storage box behind the seats is also dressed in vinyl and offers decent capacity. An artful four spoke steering wheel with finger grooves and fluted spokes fronts a burlwood dashboard that shows some patina and houses oval and arching gauges along with red and orange knobs. A tall shifter rises from the floor that\'s adorned with a tan carpet piece and the footwells are lined in more khaki vinyl.

Drivetrain
Driver quality in appearance is the 320ci L-head inline 8-cylinder with 90 horsepower and a 1-barrel carburetor. It\' smated to a 3-speed manual transmission that routes power to the rear axle with 4.67 gears.

Undercarriage
Driver quality here as well with typical surface rust and residual oil on the pans and rear differential. The newer looking exhaust is a single system through a stock style muffler, exiting all the way out back. Mechanical drum brakes are found on all four wheels.

Drive-Ability
Like a Hollywood star, we set out onto the less glamorous test loop to see what this baby can do! It runs well with no worrying sounds or faux pas. We note the turn signals don\'t work but all other functions operate as they should on this well preserved Packard. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.

Packard is still a sought-after name 68 years after the last one left the factory. That\'s really saying something about a name and reputation. It wouldn\'t take much to bring this one a few levels to show quality and as they say, it\'s got good bones!
