The Oldsmobile 98 was always at the top of the line up, and the Futuramic convertible deluxe was the best of the best that Oldsmobile offered in 1950. Featuring a 304CI Rocket V-8, this Oldsmobile had the advantage of new overhead valve design when most automakers were still selling valve in block engines with designs dating back to before the war. With a two barrel carburetor, this engine produced 135hp, over a third more than the widely popular Ford flathead of the day. That power flows reward through a smooth shifting two speed automatic transmission. Standard equipment on 98s included a solenoid starter, fender skirts, E-Z-l rearview mirror, and foam rubber seat cushions. The 98s also included front and rear bumper guards, vacuum booster pump, plastic radiator ornament, dual horns, dual sun visors, and cigarette lighter. Deluxe equipment added front and rear floor mats, Deluxe steering wheel, wheel trim rings, rear seat armrests, and hydraulic window, seat and top controls on all convertibles. Upholstery was either broadcloth or leather. The standard tire size was 6.50 x 16 on painted steel wheels. This particular 98 has been kept in a private collection and is in great overall condition. It has a newer powered cloth top, power windows, and red leather interior. It is very original and rare to see today. If you're in the market for a full size convertible coupe that can comfortably seat five, then look no further. Stop in today or email [email protected] and put this beauty in your driveway!!
