DESCRIPTION

This unforgettable 1985 Chevrolet Camaro Iroc-Z only has 11 original miles and has been dubbed, “The Holy Grail”. The Third Generation Camaro was produced from 1982-1992. For 1985, Chevrolet introduced the IROC-Z version that was named after the International Race of Champions. Offered as an option package on the Z28, the Camaro IROC-Z featured an upgraded suspension, lowered ride height, Delco-Bilstein shocks, larger diameter sway bars, a steering/frame brace known as the “wonder bar” and a special decal package. The Camaro IROC-Z was on Car and Driver magazine Ten Best list for 1985. The Camaro IROC-Z was produced from 1985-1990. As the original factory build sheet and factory window sticker indicate this car was built in Norwood, Ohio on April 22, 1985. It was ordered by Albrizio Chevrolet located in Palisades Park, New Jersey with the following options: (19L) -Black exterior, (82C- FQQ2)- Gray Custom Cloth interior, (AU3)- power door lock system, (A01)- tinted glass, (A31)- power windows, (B34)- front carpeted mats, (B35) – rear carpeted mats, (B4Z) – IROC-Z performance package, (B84) – body side moldings, (B91) –black door edge guards, (CC1)– removable glass roof panels with locks, (CD4) – intermittent windshield wiper system, (C49) – electronic rear window defogger, (C60)- air conditioning, (DG7)- electric twin remote sport mirrors, (DK6) – interior roof console, (D42) – rear compartment cargo cover, (G80) – limited slip differential, (J65) – power disc front and rear brakes, (LG4)- 5.0 Liter 4-bbl V8 GM engine, (MM5)- five-speed manual transmission, ( N33) – comfortilt steering wheel, (TR9)- auxiliary lighting, (TT4) – halogen hi/low beam headlights, (UA1) – heavy duty battery, (U05)- dual horns, (U75)- power antenna, (V08)- heavy duty cooling, (YE2)- electric tuned am/fm stereo radio with cassette tape, clock and graphic EQ. Steve knew this car was special and told the dealership he didn't under any circumstances want the car dealer prepped. He wanted all the original exterior chalk marks, window sticker, miscellaneous stickers and interior plastic left untouched. He placed the vehicle inside a large enclosed trailer with 4 miles on the odometer. He removed the original wheels and tires for storage purposes. The car was kept in the same trailer for the next 24 years until it was removed in 2009. A YouTube video documented the entire process which currently has 9.1 million views. It was then featured in Hot Rod Magazine April of 2009 issue. As a copy of the reassigned title documents it was sold on March 13th, 2010 to Oliver Ford located in Plymouth, Indiana with 4 miles on the odometer. As a copy of the reassignment of vehicle by a registered dealer form documents it was sold on April 22, 2011 to Larry's Auto located in Merrill, Iowa. As the current title documents it was sold on April 14th, 2014 to Ken Thwaits who lived in Franklin, Tennessee. Ken is a business owner, car racer and owns a Camaro museum which is where it remained until it was purchased by MS CLASSIC CARS on April 20, 2024.

The exterior of this car is truly remarkable in every sense of the word. The body and paint is in excellent overall condition throughout which is really impressive considering its 39 years old. The lower front plastic bumper does have some spider hairline cracking on the driver's side and small scuffs on the bottom edge. The lower rear bumper also has some small scuffs on the bottom edge. The body retains 100% of its factory original black paint which was tested with an electronic paint meter by the team at MS CLASSIC CARS. Black is a very desirable color among collectors and enthusiasts. The paint was recently detailed to a brilliant shine and looks amazing. All of the factory original stamped glass is in excellent condition. The glass still retains the factory original window sticker, inspection stickers and chalk marks. All of the rubber seals are pliable with no cracking. Everything on the exterior is in working order such as the wipers, headlights, parking lights, tail lights, brake lights and power antenna. As stated above, the original wheels with tires were removed for storage and sold. From the information gathered the original 16”silver aluminum wheels were replaced with a set of NOS wheels and replacement Goodyear Eagle RS-A 245-50-16 tires. The original front license plate bracket and screws are included.

The original gray custom cloth interior of this car is also truly remarkable in every sense of the word. It actually still has a new car smell to it. Read more on www.msclassiccars.com
