Culver City, CA
She’s red, big, and bold. Sporting Mopar’s huge 440 motor and just 74,874 original miles, our personal luxury performance car from Chrysler muscles her way into car history stating simply ‘size matters’.
The current Owner is just number three in our 300’s 54 years. With less that 75,000 miles, her care and enjoyment over the years shows in her original, unmolested and most-excellent condition. Hailing from Mancelona, MI she’s originally a Colorado car owned over 30 years by her second (and reported first owner, too) prior to her 2018 transfer to the wonderland of Michigan. She indeed has a clear and clean MI title in our third Owner’s name.
Our two-door hardtop is long, lean, and very red. Reported to have undergone one repaint some years back, she shows very nice and extremely straight. Her chrome and brightwork is original and untouched, displaying a hint of patina and slight wear. All glass is reported as very good. And true to her originality, she is factory down to her hubcaps.
Black leather exudes her personal luxury status; her condition is just wonderful. As reported by our Inspector, the interior trim and upholstery throughout the vehicle are in good condition with little to no wear to note. While the horn is inoperable, all other accessories and amenities perform flawlessly. While not a heavily optioned car, her simplicity of hand-crank windows and lack of A/C actually help preserve her function, mechanicals having a much better longevity than those pesky 60’s electrical items.
Powered by Chrysler’s massive 440 cid V8, one might expect – and rightly so – momentous performance. Even in this form of mass, our mountainous auto dances down the road. Although temporarily challenged during her mechanical review, the Owner reports that her road performance is simply outstanding. Typical of luxury autos, this 300 is outfitted with an automatic transmission. All running gear is reported as original and has been maintained with OEM parts.
Reviewed by the objective crew from Lemon Squad, her cosmetic and mechanicals were thoroughly vetted. Her exterior paint condition revealed a very nice recoat, showing some age but most important, very little to almost no body filler. Her undercarriage did show signs of slight oxidation. Her interior was reported as showing only slight wear, factory radio and one broken nob, a real testament to her originality and low mileage. Unfortunately, a leaking water pump kept our Inspector from what likely would have been a joyous ride, our Owner has committed to it’s repair and invites said inspector to take her for a spin.
A mile-high car now residing in the motor state of Michigan. She muscles her way along with power yet complements the discerning with mass and luxury. Chrysler has always been very, very good at producing a large performance vehicle and our 300 is a fine, fine example. It has been popularly stated that there is no substitution for cubic inches and the 440 power plant was just about as big as one could get in the mid 60’s. She’s a beautiful car, original luxury car and really, nothing else needs to be stated.
