This Cabriolet is believed to be by the prior owner one of the SGS Marbella builds by Hamburg-based Styling Garage. These were a factory-authorized conversions in the early 80s built in a small production series of estimated 300. Besides Europe, these vehicles were also sought after in the Gulf countries and the United States. This convertible pays tribute to the tradition of Mercedes' large four-seater cabrioles, which the factory last offered with the W111 in 1971.

This Mercedes has been enjoyed sparingly by the current owner since 2012 (20k miles in 10 years), and has received regular service and maintenance (records available).

A Carfax report is available upon request. The report provides some information on the condition and history of this imported cabriolet. This European model was first titled in Wisconsin in 2000 (with under 35k miles) , then in California in 2011 (with 74K miles), has passed all emission tests, and remained accident free. The report also acknowledges the rebuilt transmission in 2018 (4k miles ago).

This cabriolet finished in midnight blue over tan, is equipped with a power canvas top, power seats, 16" Centra style chrome wheels on new tires, power side mirror, cold AC, upgraded stereo system, burl wood trim, cruise control, 4 wheel disc brakes, powered by a 5.0L V8 paired with a four-speed automatic transmission and limited-slip differential.

This european version features compact bumpers, and this model is also equipped with headlight wipers.
The car has remained stock without modifications, with the exception of an aftermarket CD stereo, cup holders, and custom reupholstered trunk.

The exterior metallic blue paint is in great shape with no oxidation and great clear coat thanks to garage storage. Many pictures were taken to showcase all the panels of this beautiful car. Exterior blemishes are hard to find. All the chrome work has survived well and is in excellent shape. All the exterior lights work, the mirrors function properly. All the windows function as well. Windshield shows a small chip. The leather interior is in great shape. A vinyl boot for the top will be included. The US instrument cluster odometer shows 94k miles, with all working lights and gauges, no fault lights, and working analog clock. The AC work very well, and has had the center air flaps repaired in the past.

Regular maintenance by the owner, cosmetic care, and proper storage, preserved this Mercedes to be a reliable and collector-grade classic. Some of the services in the last few years have included: power convertible top latch overhaul, convertible top hydraulic motor replacement, 4 new tires, gas tank replaced with new sending unit, hoses, and filter, power steering gear box replacement, brake master cylinder, and more.
Mechanically the car runs perfectly, drives smooth and quiet with confident braking, and reliable and stable for highway cruising.

The undercarriage is dry and corrosion free, all original, appears as it has never seen winters. The original exhaust mufflers show the usual rusting from within. The suspension has received new ball joints (2019) and transmission rebuilt 4k miles ago (2018).

A rare legendary Mercedes in cabriolet variant would be a unique addition to any collection!
