DESCRIPTION

For most who remember the Ford Taurus, visions of a best-selling family sedan come to mind. Roomy and reliable, the Taurus garnered awards like Car and Driver\'s Ten Best and Motor Trend\'s Car of the Year in 1986. Three years later, two significant events happened in the Taurus\' timeline. First, Ford sold its one-millionth Taurus, and second, the Blue Oval unveiled a high-performance variant just like this 1989 Ford Taurus SHO you see here today.

With just 72,156 actual miles on the odometer, this Super High Output version of Taurus sports its believed original Titanium Metallic paint and panels featuring its original Mercury Sable-shared hood, extended side body moldings, front bumper fogs lights, and an \'SHO\' stamped rear bumper. Inside, we find a fully loaded Titanium Grey leather interior that appears to be stock, correct, and original, with the exception of a driver\'s seat, which was recovered to match its factory look. Other amenities include power windows, power mirrors, power locks, a power driver\'s seat, cruise control, and air conditioning.

Under the hood is where this car\'s real magic comes to life. It\'s a Yamaha-built transversely mounted 3.0-liter DOHC V-6. With its iron block, aluminum heads, and variable-length intake manifold, the SHO pumps out a stout 220 hp and 200 lb-ft of torque while redlining at an incredible 7,000 rpm. That high-flying power is then routed through a Mazda-designed and manufactured five-speed manual transmission, setting the SHO apart from its slower siblings.

According to Motor Trend, the 1989 Ford Taurus SHO could run from 0 to 60 mph in a scant 6.6 seconds and top out at 143 mph when it was new. The consignor added Eibach springs and Monroe struts, which work in conjunction with the four-wheel power disc brakes to make allow this SHO to live up to its Super High Performance moniker. Also included with this low-mileage vehicle are maintenance records, service manuals, the owner\'s manual, and even the original window sticker. While not everyone will not immediately remember the impressive character of the first-gen Ford Taurus SHO, with just one blip of the throttle on an open road, this Taurus will SHO you why it is impossible to forget.
