DESCRIPTION

1940 Willys Speedway Coupe

For consignment, a smoothed and shaved and magazine ready 1940 Willys Speedway coupe packing a big block under the forward flipping 1 piece front end. The custom paint and graphics are pleasantly retro and it\'s rare you\'ll see a ride in this color. The forward leaning car with fat tires on a shortened rear is hot rod gold! And it only has 8,706 actual miles on the build!

Exterior
Pastel peach paint covers thisconsignor-stated Outlaw body car and with flared fenders, a dome like cab, and an enormous tail section, that\'s a lot of paint! The normal hood seam is gone and in its place is a fused fiberglass hood that lifts in reverse taking with it the entire front body. The shark nose leans over a finned grille, looking like the baleen of a whale. Billet side mirrors come off the door like little fins while the shaved doors are as smooth as an eel. Okay, enough with the fish references! This car has quite a presence. The peach is broken up nicely by a checkered flag and overlapping abstract V-shaped triangle, creating lines on a car that is all curves. 15-inch weld wheels with 195/65R15 tires are up front, while massive 17-inch Weld\'s are in back with fat 345/55R17 meats.

Interior
The sharp angles of the exterior graphics are mirrored in the sculpted khaki leather of the door panels. More billet here too as the actuator matches the mirrors. Modern bucket leather seats look right at home and blend with the surroundings of khaki on the doors, walls, and trim on the carpet mats. A billet winged steering wheel picks up the color and is mounted to a polished tilt column. The dash is flat, and body colored and houses VDO gauges and indicator lights in clean and neat formation. The automatic shifter is floor mounted, part billet, and tucked in a leather shift boot. The back panel supports a rear shelf and houses the radio, an AM/FM/CD Pioneer head unit. The low pile tan carpet is perfect, and the headliner shadows the outside graphics with more V-shaped texturing in the leather. The trunk is perfectly finished with tan carpet and leather covered wheel wells and storage box.

Drivetrain
A 454ci big block is behind the shark nose and it\'s hosting a Holley 4-barrel carburetor over an Edelbrock intake. The engine compartment is a showpiece, with color and graphics from the body on the valve covers and air filter casing with other parts that are polished and billet. The transmission is a TH350 3-speed automatic sending power to the Ford 9\" rear. Power disc brakes in front begin the stopping process while power drums in back are there as secondary stoppers.

Undercarriage
A consignor stated Outlaw frame is painted body color, and the underside shows very well. The pans and flywheel cover are chromed, and the dual exhaust comes from the headers, make a short stop at the Flowmaster mufflers, then head east and west to exit just before the back tires through polished tips. The driveshaft runs through an octagon shaped loop before connecting with the peach pumpkin. A Mustang II front end is installed, and the rear consists of a 4-link with coil overs.

Drive-Ability
The interior is a very nice place to be, cozy and confined like a well appointed submarine. The rear Willys windows are somewhat limiting for visibility, but are so epic we\'re willing to get used to it! Meanwhile, the car starts up and sounds amazing and we take this big tired coupe onto the test loop where it performs well and we check all the boxes for functionality. And with the huge trunk, we wouldn\'t mind taking this over to Lowes to load some things, but instead we head back into the garage.

Here is a turnkey Hot Rod that will absolutely be a show stopper. It\'s got the right mix of a big block, a custom and comfortable interior, and a paint scheme that stands apart. Plus, c\'mon, who doesn\'t love the Willys shark nose? Americana to the bone! (Or is it cartilage?)
