DESCRIPTION
THE CAR
This 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu sport coupe is a big block restomod built to be driven. It has blue metallic paint over a black bucket-seat interior, a 454 under a cowl-induction-style hood, and the pieces that make it easy to live with: cold A/C, power steering, and power front disc brakes.
The drivetrain is a 454 cubic inch big block V8, a TH350 three-speed automatic run through a console horseshoe shifter, and a 10-bolt posi rear with 3.36 gears. That gearing gives you plenty of pull off the line and still lets the car cruise comfortably on the highway.
WHAT IT HAS
The 454 runs a Holley 750 CFM four-barrel under a chrome open-element air cleaner, with chrome valve covers, red plug wires, and dual exhaust. The aftermarket A/C system blows cold. It has power steering and power brakes, with discs up front and drums in the rear.
Outside, the car has blue metallic paint and chrome bumpers, with bright wheel-opening and drip-rail moldings. There are 454 emblems on the hood and the rear tail panel. It sits on Rally wheels with trim rings and Chevrolet center caps, wearing raised white letter tires.
Inside, the interior is black. You get front bucket seats with headrests, a center console with the horseshoe shifter, SS gauges, Malibu door panels, a three-spoke sport steering wheel, black carpet, and an aftermarket stereo.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
The \'69 Chevelle comes from the middle of the muscle car era. It has a long hood, a short deck, quad headlights, and the kind of stance that still turns heads at any cruise night. Chevrolet didn\'t put the 454 in a Chevelle until 1970, so a \'69 with a 454 is a combination the factory never built but plenty of people wanted. A restomod like this one skips the numbers-matching premium and puts the money into what you feel from the driver\'s seat: big block torque, an easy automatic, posi traction, and A/C that works.
